Let's see your mountain goat pics!

Definitely not as good as the photos above but here are a couple pics from our goat hunt last year.

Goats on Quandary Peak. No zoom, all taken with my phone. Got within 5 yards or so: bright colored clothing and music blaring from the Bluetooth speaker on my pack.

10.25/6" base, good mass through the length. It will be 52-53 B&C, 5.5 yrs old. I'm making a rug out of him, no worries!

Some amazing photos on here, and some very nice Billy's on the ground!!
Clark, that's a nice late season billy, last year was my first time hunting the rut/winter, hunted right up until feb 28th, but never did see the billy I wanted.

Keeper coming fellas, and good luck this season 🍻

11 year old 10 1/4" BC billy.

Thanks Decker! There are some outstanding photos here, brings back lots of memories, I think I'll have to dig out Duncan Gilchrist's book on goats and put it in the queue to read next.

Since the MT goats aren't known for big horns I decided hold off hunting until mid-October when they had a solid winter coat, which turns out is about the time they go phantom and it turned into a hella tough hunt. Tags are hard to draw and I had a 7 year wait to apply again so I hunted the last two weeks of season dark to dark. That was a last day goat and he had 8" hair and the best set of horns I'd seen since July. The meat had good flavor and was only slightly tough as hell. I tried tenderizing him by kicking him off that cliff and letting him roll 1/4 mile but the snow was too deep and soft, was like dragging him outta there on a bed of quilts. IIRC the biologist aged him at 7-1/2 years.

Thx Luke! I'll be on Kodiak in Oct with you. Maybe we can catch up in town? Oct 24th? I'm helping a friend on the far south end fill his bear tag. Early Oct I'm after Elk again.

Here's mine from the other day. Not too shabby for a unit with few goats compared to others and a raft/hike in hunt from the road.

Took a little tumble, just glad everything stayed intact. Sure made the pack out shorter :)

He fell for a complete 2 minutes per the video camera.
