That's what my work truck is. While working in CO a few years ago, I took my company truck to the elkwoods on the Western Slopes. I was pleasantly surprised. The little 2.7 will climb a tree. I had it in some places I shouldn't have and the truck did great!
I ended up buying a different truck but still with the 2.7. 20mpg from pa to co and back. Had it up a few roads that I should have had my jeep on. Love this truck.

I traded my '14 F150 recently and joined the dark side. I found out real quick in September I need to put a lift and some bigger tires on my Z71.IMG_20191101_183645185.jpg

Looks like it sits pretty low. I took the lower plastic chin thing off my front bumper but there were a few times my skid plates were dragging. I'll probably be putting a few inches of lift under mine also.

Alot more Tacomas then I thought.
I'm currently having pickup problems and searching for the "perfect" hunting truck. For everyone with an 05 newer taco, gosh they just seem so small. Most of my trips are longer I'm sure I'd have to tow a trailer. How's it working out?
I'd like a newer halfton fullsize but everything except a tundra has terrible reviews. And everyone says the tundra has a soft body.
Here a couple of my current Toyota. It small, and not the funniest to drive on asphalt for a long ways.

3/1 leveling kit, rock warrior wheels, Firestone ride rite air bags, ARE Z topper, decked drawer system in the back.

good truck but horrible gas mileage compared to my 3.5 F150.

For those of you with the short beds (5.5) with canopies are you able to sleep in them comfortably? F150 short beds are a dime a dozen around here and the 6.5 footers are hard to come by

I'm about 5'11" and I can only sleep diagonal in my 5.5 F-150. Its not terrible if I have about half of the bed to sleep in, with gear piled up on the other side. But its certainly not ideal. When I sold my '05 F-150 i told myself I wouldn't settle until i found a 6.5. Well, i settled on a good deal on a 5.5, and I've been kicking myself ever since.

Thanks that’s kind of what I was thinking. I’m willing to bet that shorter wheel base makes it more nimble in the mountains though.

Only my second vehicle, have owned it since 2010. Just hit 160k miles. Truck has been with me to over 20 states turkey hunting. This fall I took it on my first elk hunting trip to New Mexico. Unfortunately its gotten to the point where issue after issue keeps popping up so I'm in the market for a newer one. Just can't trust it on another lengthy trip out west. But we sure had our good times!

So I told myself the same thing with my 13 F150 but bought a Z71 6.5 bed a couple years ago. Bought a newer F150 last night with the short bed. Hunting partner has a Tacoma with a canopy which he sleeps in and the maneuverability is great. I’m 5’10”, side sleeper with a recent bear/tent/camp experience so I’m actually excited to get in the back with a canopy....
