I’m really looking forward to seeing some of those beautiful doubles but let’s see whatever ya got for a big bore. I only have two, a s/s Winchester.375 H&H Magnum, and a Winchester Super Express .458 Win. Mag.

I’m insanely jealous of your Winchester 375, I’m always on the lookout for one just like that but havnt ever found one for a reasonable price. Sort of a grail gun for me. And no, I’m not really interested in the “Alaskan” model.

Does a 338 count?

I was at the range today and one of the exec's at the gun club was telling me that 30 caliber and over is big bore. Had me a bit surprised, I figured the cut off was always .35, maybe .338.

Well everyone has an opinion but when I think big bores I think what is legal for dangerous game in all of Africa and that is for sure .375.

I got rid of a .375 Ruger (still need to sell the dies and brass) and have picked up a .375 H&H barrel for my R8. Sweet open sights and a stupid reliable qd system for the scope. Have a synthetic stock if I can ever get in a brown bear hunt on Kodiak or the Alaska Peninsula.

That is one sexy round and will do it all as countless elephants will attest.

I have a couple .45-70s and I’d say those qualify as well. I’d not hesitate to take them for brown bear either. 300g Barnes X impressed me greatly on black bear

.416 Remington Magnum custom built by myself on a P14 Enfield action, douglas barrel, bastogne walnut stock. Buffalo shot in Zambia in August of this year.

That's beautiful, love the wood on it. I can't tell from the picture, do you have QD mounts on it? Also, what did you go with for the glass?

Warne bases with Burris QD Zee Rings. The bases are mounted with 8-40 screws and pinned to the action.

The scope is a 2-7X32 Vortex Viper. Not my first choice for it, but the 1.5-6 Burris I had on there died with a month to go before the hunt. The Vortex performed great so it will stay on the rifle.

I picked that one up new for $600, back in '03, when Kmart went out of business in Anchorage. Of all my rifles, that one has notched the most tags with 8 caribou, 4 moose, and 2 brown bears.

I ended up settling for a Remington 700 xcr2 which has been a great gun but I'm a m70 fan so I'm always looking still.

Love it.

Biggest gun mistake of my life was selling my Blaser R8 375 H&H and 257 WBY.

About ten years ago, I bought this 375 H&H Ruger Number One used, along with dies, components and some loaded ammo. It's just a honey to shoot! I've only shot black bear with it, carried it for elk, with no shot opportunity. Nice rifle - it went to Africa with a prior owner and took several different species including Cape Buffalo. I've found the 375's to be surprisingly easy to shoot, and accurate as well:

I love the big bore #1's. One of these days I'll get around to buying the .450/400 NE version. Hard to beat a .375 as the hunt the world cartridge.

Some fine looking iron in here!! For as much of a Swede fan I am, I do love the .375 caliber. This is pre 64 in .375 h&h that I spent a winter building the stock for, shoots like a dream.

my custom .458 WM, my grandad built for a couple African hunts. Iv had it nearly 20 years, I should take it out one day.
