Built to match Phil Shoemakers legendary beast Ol' Ugly and feed like butter! Thanks Phil and Tia! Custom Mauser 98 chambered in 458 Winchester Magnum, 21" barrel with four round magazine. Leupold 2.5 heavy duplex crosshairs with quick release rings and flip up peep plus XO detachable peep. Built by Master Gunsmith Lon Paul who also built a matching 9.3 X 62 on CZ 550 action with 1.5 X 5 Leupold with CDS.

Exceptional. Thanks for sharing.

I know it’s a bit light in the ass but it was my answer to all of these big bore threads. I’ve owned a 416 Penrod and a stock Winchester 375. Details are:

Jim Kobe built 338 Win Mag on Pre-64 458 Action. Douglas or Krieger barrel, Kobe couldn’t recall. Custom Bottom Metal. Brown Precision Stock. Barrel cut and crowned at 23. 7lbs 3oz pre scope. Plan to drag it to Alaska next year.

If i had 'Eff You' money, Phil's rifle would be the one gun I'd buy before anything else.

Second would be a matching pair of Westley Richards magazine rifles in 6.5x55 & .300 WM. If Phil wouldn't part with his, I'd have a third in .458 Lott or .505 Gibbs. Just because.

I’m gonna cheat a bit here and drop a few thousandths of an inch…9.3x62. One of my fave cartridges.

This has had custom stock work done on it. Shaved the buttstock down thinner as well as slimming the forend and putting a true Schnabel forend. Amazing what a few fractions of an inch can do for feel. This is the way they should come from the factory.
