I was blessed with a once in a lifetime buck. Killed him opening afternoon of the opener of late season in Oregon. I had been trying to get access to this area of property for years now with no luck. Out of the blue I get a phone call from the neighbor to the place I have been trying to get access to. The gentleman tells me that he has been having an issue with some deer and that one of them in particular was at his place. He had been trying to get help from other resources but no luck from them so the neighbor gave him my number and he called. Being an hour away I told him I had a tag and that I could drive up there and see if I could help. As luck would have it the buck had went and bedded down in the small timbered area and hung around the whole time. I showed up and to make a long story short I killed the buck with my 3 year old boy next to me all while he is saying Buck Dad! I had lost my Dad in September and season had been really rough for me and I prayed that morning to make something great happen. I don’t know if it’s just dumb luck or I was given this opportunity because he was wanting me to know he’s listening. I had no idea on the sheer size of the buck up until I picked his head up. I did see the 4 point side when I shot him but that’s it. A lady reached out to me and had been hunting this same buck for a little while. I got pictures of him from last year she sent.
