Loved those first two books and read them twice.
I’ll have to check out your 3rd book.

My own 3rd to his first two I just read is Jim Corbett series.

Love these threads for ideas as I love to read and try to get through at least 12 books a year as a general goal.

Last three;
1. Empire of the Summer Moon (reading now)
2. The River (Peter Heller) - also The Dog Stars and The Painter, he is a great writer.
3. The Last Cowboys (Branch) - highly recommend this book.

Some favorite books/authors:
American Buffalo
Don Winslow - Power of the Dog & The Cartel
Barbarian Days (Finnegan)
Jim Harrison - Legends of the Fall
Men to Match My Mountains
Jack Carr - The Terminal List & True Believer
CJ Box - Joe Picket Series - good quick reads
The Big Burn (Egan)

Sapians - Fascinating book.
The Hunting Hypothesis - How we developed at hunters, older book but still very relevant.
A (Nearly) Complete History of the Moose in New Zealand - I'll be keeping my eye's peeled for one next time I'm there!

I've got about 12 hunting related books lined up right now just sitting on the book shelf....good times ahead.

I cannot remember what was before that.

Sand County Almanac and Meat Eater are next.

If anyone wants to sell/pass on American Buffalo, Undaunted Courage, Crow Killer, Hatchet, or Mountain Man let me know.

I must have ADD or something, I can’t just sit there and read. I need to be “ doing” something. When I read my mind don’t stay on the book, it wonders, so I give up. I find it incredible guys can read books, I guess.

I use to read a lot but college kind of killed it for me. I had to read so much that I just don’t enjoy it as much. I need to pick up some light reading and see if that will help bring it back.

The last two books I read cover to cover, I can’t even remember the names of them but Robbys book was one and the other was all about the settling of the New World from an environmental perspective.

It’s interesting to see so many people are reading books by or recommended by Rinella et al.

people who read a lot are not immune to this...im certainly not. I listen to a ton of music and songs (mostly instrumentals) get stuck in my head..they will creep in and distract while I read. It’s a matter of refocusing over and over until it stays out. I get in about 50 books a year.

That's kind of funny, I have the same feeling about people who don't read. I grew up in a family where we read our books at breakfast and at lunch. I can't fathom a world where I didn't read recreationally.
Do you find it hard to concentrate when reading a forum like this, or researching things you're interested in? My best friend since childhood has serious ADHD but give him a technical welding manual, or a hunting magazine and he can lock into it for hours on end.

How many people in this thread are actually reading the books they mention, not "reading" an audio book?

It’s common with ADD to be able to only concentrate on that which interests you - hyper focus.

as far as reading vs. listening, I do both. Listen to about 25 books over the year in addition to those I read.
