The Hawag Alaskans have showed up in the Scheels stores around here in the last year.

I don't love my Clevedale's...I wear'em for lighter duty but that is about it. My "go to" boot lately has been the Lowa Bighorn.

You choose the Cevedale's for you light work and use the Bighorns for the heavy duty??? Interesting...I would run that the other way around.

Why can't you get them anymore? I just logged onto L&S to see and they allow me to purchase them... I have to get a new pair as mine are about worn out, this will be a bummer if I can't get the Alaskans!

Well thats good news certainly!!! I haven't been on the L&S site in over a year, but last I heard there was some drama in getting Hanwag to continue to supply them so I thought once their in stock stuff was gone it was all over...maybe they made up?

Moosejaw.com and Amazon have Hanwag Alaska boots also, so no fear. My favorite boot!

For those of you with the Hanwag Alaska boots - would you recommend going up a half-size in them? I have measured my foot using a Brannock device (the length and width measuring device that all shoe stores have) at a 10.5 D while wearing wool socks. My left foot was closer to a 10D, while my right was a 10.5D. Would you guys that have owned them go with the 10.5 or maybe an 11? I can get them for an extremely good price, the only problem is - I can't return them. I'm hoping to pull the trigger on some, but I want to get the sizing right! I guess if they didn't fit, I could sell them on here...

I would round up a half size. I wear an 11.5 US in all of my other footwear, but am wearing an 11 EURO in the Hanwags. The general conversion is to go down one full size from US to EURO sizing. At least that has been the way with all of my other boot purchases.

After nearly a year with my Cevedales from L&S I can say that I will buy them again when they wear out. But that might be because I can't get the Hanwag Alaskans anymore ;) Both are great boots and can't go wrong with either.

Can you give a compare/contrast of the tech-light hunters to the hanwag alaska's? thanks! I have the Alaska's, interested int he tech-lights.

They're lighter, dry faster, a bit stiffer, but the fit is close.

CTH vs Tibets in terms of forefoot width? I liked everything about the Tibets, the overall support/stiffness was perfect, they were just a bit too narrow and I felt pressure on the outside edge of the ball of my foot. Need just a weeeee bit more width I think.
