Looking for a daypack for those hunts when I’m either day hunting or hunting out of a base camp near the road so no need for a massive capacity and carrying camp/etc.

I can’t handle any of these first so it’s mainly just looking online and hoping for the best.

Would like to be able to carry my weapon on the pack as well. I would also like it to be big enough to do some backpacking trips during the summer. If it were able to haul one medium/small load of meat that would be awesome too.

I think those requirements rule out the avail and smaller venture. I’ve heard the avails 2200ci capacity is quite optimistic anyhow.

Any input from guys on these packs? Pictures of them loaded up? Things you wish you knew before you bought?

Thanks in advance.

For day packs organization is more important than weight or load hauling ability. I wouldn’t break the bank on it.

I love my Sitka Flash 20 (the older one) but also use my Exo 5500 for day hunts if I might have to load meat.

If the 2 choices in the title I’d get the Kiowa though

I have kuiu ultra 6000 and icon pro3500? there nice, really like weight, i almost always use the 3500 cause of size and pockets. I pack out 3/4 each elk and deer each season and carries meat well. I would improve a few things so its not perfect, buddy bought new one last year and they definetely updated pack in last few years and are trying to make it even better. Hope it helps

Not sure about the Kiowa; I run a Stone Glacier 3300, and I've never regretted it. Then I properly fit the pack to myself and almost considered ordering SG stickers to put over everything I own. (Joking). Also, if I'm not running a full pack (if I drop a spike camp/shorter hike or hunt/etc.) I can just cinch down the pack and it compresses smaller than most day packs ever would.

When it comes to loading your back and basically carrying everything you need for survival, I don't feel like skimping on quality is where it's at.

After talking with a lot of people before I bought mine, you're good with any packs from Kifaru/Stone Glacier/Exo. Just try them all (if you can) and find the one that fits you best.

I day hunt the Venture 2300 and so far it's been great, haven't packed meat in it but doubt it will be a problem. layout is minimal but efficient, weighs in a hair over 3lbs.

I had the avail, which is similar. Great pack, Great layout but no water bottle holders on the sides sucked. I currently have a Venture 1800 and it has the bottle pockets, and I can fit significantly more in it, despite the description saying it has less CI. I like it, removable waist belt is nice.
