I agree... I was not arguing against this pack specifically at all, I was simply stating that that the strap has to be able to hold weight by itself even if the suspension and fit is great. I swing heavy loads up on to my back with one strap at... i would hate to be 5 miles in and tear a strap off.

Agree, I always try and avoid the one strap sling with real heavy weight, place it on a stump, use a grab handle, have a buddy assist. But sometimes there is no other way. I will say if the Velcro lets go for some odd reason, there is no way that thing is not gonna break. I'm glad they made it a little easier to remove the suspension, the icons were a pain to get off at times. I would have to imagine they have a daypack for the ultra frame in the pipeline, or else there would be zero reason for the suspension to be removable.

I'd like to see the mechanical leverage put back on the belt, personally. Weight savings or no.

I would also agree with this. I've never had a pack that was meant for hauling that didn't have a power pull on the belt, I've got a 20 year old Kelty coyote that has em. What could the Savings really have been, 2oz each side??

Mystery ranch packs don't have power pulls. Atleast a few years back they didn't.

The Barney's freighter frame doesn't either and it is designed for serious load hauling

For 350 I am more likely to keep my Barney's for heavy hunts and use this for preseason scouting and sheep hunts

Figure it can't be worse than my alps mountaineering internal for scouting

I guess I should have said I have never owned although thought it was implied. For me they are almost a must. I'm not familiar with the Barney's

The hats are foreign too. The thread on their forum mentioned them coming thru customs. I'm 99.9% sure everything they have is from overseas

That's what I was wondering. Is there another attachment that I missed on the shoulder straps to the frame?

There is velcro as well. I tested it out at the SCI show but I wasn't ready to jump all in. I ended up buying the Stone Glacier 5100 at the show from Schnee's.

I think if you put a Kifaru belt on a Barney's frame that woudl be a moose quarter for sure!!! But they like the full wrap which does work, but not as comfy for me.

I think I am going to have to buy some beer and see if I can check out your packs before I spend anymore on packs.

This is a good pack for someone like me.. Being from Texas I only need a framed pack maybe one time a year.. And some years I dont need one.. So i cant justify spending 600$ on a pack.. This will be perfect for what i need..
