Im looking at getting either the Kuiu tiburon pant or Kuiu katana specifically for early season mule deer/elk. I want something that won’t be too hot in mid August. Any thoughts on these two offerings?

I have kutanas I wear from early all the way to late season. Great pant. Held up 3 hard seasons now.

Tiburon's are definitely cooler when it's really hot. Mine have worn fine. My original pair is pretty rough and I've patched some small holes in the knees but they're still going. I wear them in the field far more than my Kutana's and the Kutana's in town far more that my Tiburon's. But Kutana's are a great pant too.

Kutanas for me. Never found them to be too hot in Aug and durable enough to withstand even the bush of Africa.

Love the Tiburon material for hot weather but if I’m going hunting and the mornings can be in 30’s or less then that’s just not in their range. Kutana however is a light thin material just without the micro holes of the Tiburon but the way the car go pockets are angled (different than other kuiu pants) they work with the hip vents to push air through. Other kuiu pants didn’t do this, just got a breeze through the hip vents.

I have both. I wear the tibs way more. The kutana stretch way to much and start getting really baggy after an hour of walking. So not my fav. The tibs have been durable for me. And I have been through some crap with them. Did a barb hunt at 80 degs in the cactus filled desert and they held up the same as any other pant in that crap. If its gonna be super hot....tibs all day.

A non hunting brand pant I wear alot too is the Kuhl Renegade recon super good in warm weather and durable. Elastic waist is nice too

I have both. I find the Tiburons to be perfect for me into October. Anything else is too hot. The Tiburons are my favorite Kuiu pant by far.

Nice! I’ll check them out.

If you don't own any Kuiu pants then I'd recommend reading up on sizing. I haven't had a pair of Tiburons, but the Kutanas are definitely a slim fit.

I am just venturing into the kuiu brand myself. I thought I had purchased the kutana pants and was happy to hear the positive responses about the pants. Turns out I have the guide pants that I got on sale…. They appear to be more of a cold weather pants with a thin layer of fleece on the inside. So I’ll be saving them for cold weather hunting.
I’m going to have to look at getting the kutanas too

The Kutana is my favorite hunting pant by far. I'v tried multiple pants from First Lite, SG, Beyond and more. I have never found the Kutana too warm in early September hunts and they hold up great. I am not a small guy and I love the fit.
I do wear the Tiburons on my summer pack training hikes and do love them for that. But even just walking on trails they show lots of obvious signs of wear. I don't think they would hold up great in the mountains but have honestly never considered them for a hunt because the Kutana are so great.
