Check out the Kuiu blog today looks they are coming out with some brand new raingear that sound pretty awesome.

I saw that also. Man, Jason is working hard at spending more of my money. Curious to see the difference from the Chugach.

Nice. Two days after I order my Chugach, they come up with something better.

I feel you on that. Ordered late last night and got that email this morning. Figure I'll just hold it and maybe send the Chugach back depending the on the price of the new one.

HellsCanyon,
Jason says it will weigh more than the Chugach. He states on the website, it is MUCH quieter and much more durable so it added the extra weight. Basically, he is saying this is an all day solution with in surpassed breathibility. We shall see....he will post actual data in about a week

As for camo designs , one is made to please people and one is made to hide people with their life on the line. Kryptec is one of four designs in the running for the US Army's new camo design. It leads in field performance but it may be too radical for the old line generals. We should get the official word June 14.

It has been my experience that Aron is one of the most unbiased posters on Rokslide. He has given me advice on gear that would fit my needs and budget, that are in direct competition with some of the companies he is "sponsored by". That is one of the many reasons I feel this site is the best hunting site on the internet.

On a budget is the key. I don't own kuiu but I do own kryptek it seems to me that FOR THE MONEY kryptek offers more for less. If money is no object then kuiu would be on my list. But really, waterproof is waterproof and breathable? Who cares when u have pit zips. With that being the case as long as the quality is equal I am going to choose the quieter and less expensive of the two which at this point is Kryptek. I am all ears on kuiu's new jacket and price point though.

kryptek is a awesome pattern, really any pattern works, scent and movement are the real breakers.... i consider my camo my armor when in the field. its more a mental aid for me. the whole propaganda things a little over the top dude.... people are diggin the stuff and are talkin about it. band wagon not.... there really is only a couple companies making real camo for real backcountry use. i chose kryptek, like $2G deep into it and growing, i feel highlander is a aid in my hunt, people need to chill and get what feels right to them.

For instance, I have Stika stormfront jacket and stormfront lite pants put I am worried I should upgrade to something more rugged for a trip to Alaska this year. Do I just need to upgrade the pants or will the stormfront jacket suffice? I do plan on wearing hip boots most of the time though.

TXCO, so long as they aren't the storm front lite I'd say save your coin for something else. The Sitka Stormfront line is pretty stout.

Like the passion, as always. As I said on the other link, if there is money to be made, there will be competition and competition will create a better product for us. If Kryptek or KUIU or Kifaru made the "best" product for the least money, that would be hard to compete with. I can't wait till someone gets there hands on the Kryptek and new KUIU rain gear and does a BB review on them. That's what I want to see. In the mean time, I have Chugach and debate whether I need something different to complement it. The gear improvement curve just seems to be accelerating. That's good for us:), but not the bank account.:(

Thanks guys. Its a marginal dollar conversation for some of my gear at this point in the sense that its a couple years old but will likely still be fine and the new products are only incrementally better. Is the dollar best spent elsewhere? Sounds like thats the case.

For the record, my jacket is a regular stormfront but the pants are the lite version. Im considering upgrading the pants now and waiting on the jacket. Most of my hunting is high country and if Im wearing hip boots, the pants upgrade will be pointless. Decisions decisions......

I would upgrade your pants for sure then if they are the "lite' version of the storm front and if you are need to match get the storm front or whatever current rain gear model they call it now ;) If not there are a lot of other great choices out there as well.
