How's got experience with Kryptek's merino base layers and their other clothing items? I don't hear much about them here and wondering why.

I've got their Valhalla pants, Kratos puffy, and their Koldo Rain gear. Love the pants, Koldo is great except for the hood, puffy is OK.

I really like the Highlander pattern and thinking about picking up more of their stuff during their sale.

Love to hear some thoughts on their gear.

Thanks

I only use FL base layers but have a ton of their stuff and really like it all. Going to try the Kifaru puffy in highlander as well.

Have or had just about all their lineup. Good stuff love the jackets and vests. Alois pants are some of my favorite. Last year I regeared to Sitka and firstlite. Mostly because I got deals on them. Cant go wrong with any of the 3 enjoy each company lineup.

So, sounds like their gear is pretty solid. What about their merino bases then? I know FL seems to be the go to, but just wondering about the top mainly because of the camo. I never pay extra for camo base layer pants.

I haven't used their base layers but have several other items and really like their stuff. Have had no troubles with any of it and it has performed just as well as the Sitka gear that I had.

I like FL better, Kuiu next best, and Kryptek less. The one Kryptek shirt I have has sleeves that are 4-5" too long whereas FL and Kuiu are right, and the material quality doesn't seem as good.

If you're using the merino layers as a rugged base layer to be worn around camp when your outers are drying, meaning you'll want the garment dense enough to keep biting insects at bay....go with FL over Kryptek. The merino KT uses right now is too thin to sit around camp in when mozzies or gnats are around. But if you want a thin base layer for complimenting your natural body heat, the Kryptek is good to go.

I have been wearing the merino base layer and it seems a touch light. What impressed me was the dalibor pants with knee pads. All the crawling around and stalking was just awesome in these. I also like to layer under my dalibor jacket. Cadog jacket and pants are good, hot if you move much.
I love the pattern and consider the clothing quality and function-ability at a very good price point. Fit and material quality have been great. I started ducking hunting in my Cadog and its wearing like iron.

Last season I went all in with Kryptek and it performed well in September for elk. That was in Montana. I froze in Kansas with it sitting in a tree stand. I sold all of it and replaced with first lite.

Big difference between hiking on the mountain and sitting still in a treestand. I just put on a few more layers and i stay plenty warm in the treestand vs the mountain in my kryptek. The Cadog set, as mentioned above is actually waaay to warm to wear on the mountain if its over about 25, youll burn up in it.

Last year was my first season to ever sit in a stand. It was a steep learning curve. It didn't matter how many layers of Kryptek I wore, I was still cold. I contacted Kryptek and their solution was to buy more Kryptek.

Check out the Heater Body Suit. Last year was my first year in a stand on a late season KS hunt and it didn't matter how many layers I had on, I froze until my buddy loaned me his. I bought one as soon as I got home.

The Ageis set is about the only item they have that is tree stand worthy, I hope as I picked it up just for that.

It wouldn't take much layering for the Aegis set to get into freezing temps. In fact I bet with base layers and a good puffy coat that would be all you need. I would take the Aegis set over the Sitka Fanatic set anyday and maybe even over the Sanctuary set.

I didn't think it was possible to freeze with an Aegis. My wife bought me one a few years ago and I hardly ever wear it. I sweat in the thing unless it is really cold. As in single digit cold.

I bought mine used from the bargain cave in cabelas. So take that for what it's worth. I get cold pretty easy if I'm not continually moving. I find the first lite line up works better for me. I know some guys that swear by it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. That helps.

Justin and jmez.

How are the FL and the Kryptek at repelling burrs?

I've got the super heavy wool Cabelas Stand Hunter bibs and Jacket. Warm for single digits, but walking through the woods here in IA, you spend 1.5 hrs picking all the dang burrs out of it.
