Kowa Spotters Variability

I'm thinking of purchasing a kowa 88a and have read that Kowa spotting scopes can vary in performance between samples. I'm not sure if the variability is in optical quality or mechanical performance. Is this something Kowa has addressed or is the QC at Kowa questionable?

We've sold MANY of these and the quality does not vary. Kowas QC is excellent. Now is the time to buy while the Kowa Fall Sale is running

I have had several of the 554/3 mini spotters and they have all been excellent.

I’ve read that as well but seems to apply more to the 99. I’ve had 3 different models, all great.
