Kowa extender

Anyone use the kowa 1.6x extender? Was it worth it?

Im considering buying one for my 554.

I was under the impression, (I could be mistaken), that the extender installed between the scope body and eyepiece. If that's the case, I don't think it will fit a
TSN-554, with its fixed eyepiece.
Curious to know for sure.

The TSN-553/554 do not accept the extender, the TSN-55A & 55S does

Doug, you're the expert here, but are you sure about that? I thought the eyepiece was fixed and permanent on both the TSN-553/4 and the 55a/s.

If I meant the 553 I would have stated that. I own one, its built in with a screw. Its got the cheaper zoom eyepiece that was with the 663/664 series scopes. Fine eyepiece just not as good as the one use on 55.

Id assume the new 55 is same principle but they've integrated the wide angle zoom that came with the 883 scope, but I took OP at his word as Ive not handled the 55 and remembered seeing changed design so maybe they've changed to removable EP.

In any case it would be a bad idea to use an extender , even though I doubt its compatible, due to the small objective. You notice the light loss on the 883 with the extender and those effects would be even greater on the 55.

You're correct, I had a brain fart. The 55A and 55S have the TE11WZ eyepiece, however, it is attached
