I have a tikka 30-06. I tried a bunch of factory ammo and two that group well at 100yards are Remington Corelokt 180gr and Hornady ELDX 178gr.

Both shoot ten round groups in the 1.2-1.5 MOA range at 100 yards, which is good for me.

Today I went to 200 yards for the first time and was surprised to find that the Remington 10 round groups were larger, like 2.5 MOA. I only had ten rounds of the Hornady but its group was tall and narrow. Like an inch wide and 3 inches tall—but still 1.5 MOA according to my app.

What happened to the Remington? Why is it so much worse at 200 yards. I shot three 10-round groups and they were all just as big.

I was really hoping the Remington would be good out to 300 because it is so much cheaper lol

There are lots of possibilities

Shooter error (most common)
Different lot of ammo
Parallax error (though I doubt it at that distance)
Barrel changes when “breaking in” (barrels may speed up)
Shooter error.

A 1.2-1.5" group at 100yds is a ~2.4-3.0" group at 200yds... ~12-15" group at 1000yd in a perfect world. Unless I'm not understanding what your issue is...

I got 1.2-1.5 inches at 100 yards and 5-6 inches at 200 yards with the Corelokt. The Eldx went from 1.5 at 100 yards to 3 inches at 200 yards which is what I expected. I’m newish to shooting so I don’t know why the Corelokt spread increased. Would have predicted 3” groups with both bullets at 200 yards.
