Kowa 602 vs 662

I have used Kowa and like them very much. That also seems to be a very good price as B&H in NYC wants 580 just for the body, no eye piece.

After you make your purchase of whichever I would really like to know where you found the Kowa at 500. I need a good scope as well.

The biggest difference is the larger objective lens with the 662. Better light gathering, better performance in low light. Both use similar zoom eyepieces so not much difference there.

I have found the 602 has enough light gathering for my purposes and weight is a priority for me. I’m happy with my decision between the two at this point

the "flagship" leupold spotters are 100% JUNK. I started with a gold ring spotter, the resolution of the leupold on 20x was equivalent to my swarovski on 60x.

In fact, I have purchased the very "best" of what leupold have made including rifle scopes and EVERY leupold product I have owned has malfunctioned/broken/failed, etc.

Buy a Kowa, no question.

Kowa 601 was close enough to my Swarovski hd sts that I let the swaro go.
Lighter and cheaper.
Having the eyepiece go to 60x was a factor also.
Great spotter

I have the 602 upon Doug’s recommendation. It’s crazy how light it is. Glass is clear. I have the 20-60x eyepiece. Just picked up the 30x wide eye. Waiting for it to come in.

I can’t decide if I want to keep the 30x or not for my 602. It gives a very nice view but not sure I would get as much use compared to the 20-60.

Have you been able to compare the 30x in the variable eyepiece vs the 30x wide eye? Almost like looking through a different scope. Always find myself using somewhere between 20 and 60 anyway. Very rarely maxed out at 60.

I have and it’s definitely much better at 30x. But I am reluctant to give up the higher magnification because it might come in handy...

I just got a Kowa 664, the one with the HD or fluorite glass. Found it online via ebay from a dealer at $666 for the body only. I have seen them here at some dealers over 1000. Fantastic scope with the 27x long eye relief eyepiece.
