Kodiak Blacktails 2023

Does anyone have any reports on deer numbers, success stories, etc. from Kodiak this season? Heading there in a couple weeks and wondering how this season has been for everyone

Hunt Backcountry podcast talked about Kodiak in a recent podcast. Sounded like it was tougher hunting than previous trip

A buddy and I hunted the western half of Raspberry island for 5 days at the beginning of the month and saw one doe. There wasn’t much sign either. Hopefully the situation is better further south.

Just finished our hunt. We all got a buck but had to work for them. Still up by the snow line.

This winter seems to be treating the deer well. We’re still early into it but the snow pack is staying high and the water sources are available. The late winter March and April storms are the ones IMO that do the most harm.
