At blackpowder or substitute speeds I am quite content with the Hornady 200 SST. But it doesn't have the highest BC and isn't the best longer range choice. But they work great if you can keep shots within 125 or 150 yards. I still use them for 'light' loads in my smokeless .45 and rarely need more range during MZ season in TN. Past maybe 150 yards, depending on MV, they will slow down enough that they don't expand much, though a .40 hole through the heart/lungs will still kill quickly. I shot a decent buck last year with my powder-puff light load in my .45 with the 200sst (I had loaded it for my kids to use) and he didn't make it 50 yards with a hole in his heart.
For a better BC bullet for longer ranges, the 225 Fury seems to be a good balance between moderate recoil and better BC. They're bonded but they will pancake at 2500' on deer. That's not a bad thing. Absolutely devastating and likely the only time in my life I've ever thought a big powerful bullet made a difference on a marginal shot, was that 225 at 2500' impact velocity (smokeless gun/load). I use the harvester light blue sabots and a single wool .45 wad with mine.
I have also used the Fury bullets in .50 (saboted .45s) and they're great. I'd be pretty happy buying all my MZ bullets from Fury.
