Check this out...brand new Montana in .243. Performed fine at the range. First time cycling the bolt afterwards, the bolt slide/rail/extractor literally sheered in half.

Kimber wants the entire gun back, right before hunting season.

Solid.

That's the tail of the extractor that broke. Does the gun still extract rounds without any issue? If so, if it was me I'd take it hunting and ship it back after the hunting season is over.

Yup still functional, just insane for a $1200 rifle to be snapping parts right out of the gate.

Asked Kimber CS if they'd just ship a new bolt assembly or extractor and they said no.

Things break. It wasn't broken when you got it, so they couldn't know it would break.

Sucks, but even if extremely rare, someone's got to be the customer when it does happen. In this case it's you. Hunt with it now since it works, and then send it in when you're done. It's fate. Deal with it and move on. And I mean that in the nicest possible way. Stuff happens.
