Bought a Kimber Mountain Ascent chambered in .300 wm and topped it with a Vortex LR scope. Any body used factory loads for this rifle and if so, what worked best for you? Haven’t started reloading yet but got the tools bought. Probably won’t be shooting father than 500 yards to start.
Thx from Nashville

I purchased a Kimber mountain ascent in 300 wsm earlier this year and have found that it shoots 150g Barnes really well. Also shot 165g federal trophy copper pretty well but not as good as the barnes. I know it’s a little different being a wsm than your rifle but I’d start with Barnes both of my kimbers shot barnes really well. Also something to note was that my Kimber would not group with a clean barrel. The more I shot it the tighter the groups were. I was literally all over the place at first and as the barrel got some rounds through it was a night and day difference

My 308 Montana likes 150gr federal trophy coppers. A factory rep said they test the 308s with that ammo and that I should give it a try. Going to try out Barnes as well.

My Kimber Montana in 280ai shoots the Hornady PH 162gr ELD-X factory ammo to a tune if 1/2” groups.
Tried 3 rounds of nosler 140gr once. It didn’t do as well.
So decided to not bother wasting money on buying anything else.

But you may just have to try a few different options to find one your gun likes. And like one of the guys above said, get some rounds down the tube and then something will be the ticket.
I was really disappointed in my fierce 300wm for the longest. It just wouldn’t group anything. Then one day it finally came around. Still not the best at 3/4moa or just a little better.
BTW, the fierce likes the Barnes Vort-x TTSX 180gr factory ammo the best so far.

Thx for the info for the 300 wsm... I bought a Kimber Subalpine in that caliber earlier this year but haven’t been able to shoot it yet so I’ll use your recommendations.

One likes factory 140 e-tip, the other likes factory 120 ttsx. For the most part they seem to shoot factory ammo good, matter of getting used to the light gun.
