I have a potential elk hunt coming up in 2028. Trying to figure out what an ethical range of my 7mm-08 Adirondack rifle is shooting factory nosler accubond 140 grain would be. Seeing if anyone has info based on that rifle and ammo combo. I havent tried the ammo with rifle yet. TIA

The ethical limitation will be you as a shooter. The Adirondacks are great rifles, and the cartridge/bullet combo from an 18-inch barrel will likely expand beyond 600 yards. Far more elk are killed inside 200 than beyond, so practice out to 400 or 500 and you’ll do fine.

Run that ammo out of your rifle across a chronograph and then look up the DOPE for it. Where it drops below 1800-2k FPS at your DA then thats the limits of that bullet - which might be closer or further away than YOUR ethical limit.

All good advice, Practice ,practice, practice. Lightweight rifles are accurate but require good form and practice. JMHO. I shoot a Mountain ascent 280 AI and love it. If I could find a Adirondack in 7mm08 I would be all over it. great cartridge.

I have a Montana in 6.5 CM with the barrel chopped at 16 inches. With a can, it now balances perfectly. I lost some velocity, but the muzzle forward balance makes it so much easier to shoot than before.
