Killer threads lately

OK…we all know that, it’s still a website geared towards hunting and the outdoors right? I don’t see any advertising for anything contained in the topics that we are laughing about here do you?
Point is….well you get the point. Most of us come here to read good advice and learn about hunting topics, firearms, archery, shop, sell and the like. Make sense? Clearly you can Post what you want, some of the things posted seem more suitable for another forum, somewhere else, not Rokslide, but maybe that’s just me, I’ve had this thought many times, glad someone brought it up.

I come to Rokslide for the Stock Trading thread more than anything to be honest.

Do we? It would have been pretty easy for Rokslide to have described the forum as "A place to discuss anything and everything hunting-related that doesn't have its own forum." if they agreed with you.

There was an overlanding forum I used to frequent that kind of went in weird directions. I originally liked it because I like to wheel and camp but it turned into a fashion show of who bought the latest greatest gear and parts that of course matched their color scheme perfectly. Basically a bunch of tricked out trucks with the coolest camping gear driven by guys in tactical looking clothes who by the pictures of the vehicles obviously never take them off-road other than the occasional organized dirt road “overland” trip. It ended up being overrun by threads dealing with fretting over which Uber expensive gear to buy that fits in their “kit” “system” and other buzz words all mixed in with odd threads about the goofiest stuff but nothing to do with “overlanding” or car camping as I call it, and and not in an interesting or funny way, dead serious self help stuff. I’ve noticed that this forum has hints of that, but so far there’s enough of the relevant substance that I believe most are here for that it’s still really good. I do appreciate all of the helpful hunting, backpacking and reloading stuff and this has been the best place to find a good source for information about it and more. I do think a meme thread would be awesome though, I like a good meme. I understand that was ended awhile back though, bummer.

Pretty much every hunting related topic would be better suited to a different forum. Even the jlhois thread got moved to the mule deer section.

The general section is very easy to ignore if you only want hunting related discussions.

Using the general discussions forum to make fun of other threads in the general discussions forum is all good baby. People on here say some super crazy stuff sometimes. I can think of few actions more true to hunting than making fun of other hunters.
