Kifaru.....$$ in hand ready to buy whole system but......

I have talked over email to one of the reps and I can't say my particular experience with kifaru customer service compared to other brands is as nice or helpful.. I've been waiting for the amr to come out in 1000d..and it finally did but lids are not ready so why should I have to pay shipping again in a week just to get the lid..I'm spending 700$ on a backpack..I also asked about having a tactical frame made out of od green..I even called kifaru..they acted like it was impossible.. I have seen amr with frame in photos with od green so it has been done before..od bag on coyote brown looks like ass, and black gets hot, and Grey+OD..../: anyways I am a little dissapointed in that color of frames is standard for a $700 system. I do agree the product functional wise is the best out there bar none..got money in hand but unsure @ this point.

Okay...kifaru is running a business and has their offerings. You don't have to buy a pack from them. You could wait a week for the lid, but the pack / frame colors are what they are. Stone glacier, mystery ranch, etc are not going to do a one off either.

Wait for the lid or ask them to hold shipping for the rest of your order until the lid is ready.

As to the color - on your other thread your upset because there isn't a coupon code to make it cheaper, now you're upset because they won't handle a custom request just for you where they may not have the fabric and components in stock to accomodate you?

If it doesn't work for you, buy something else. Or, buy used and try it out, sell it if you don't like it. I've seen almost every permutation of Kifaru packs come across the classifieds here and on the Kifaru forums.

Your complaining that they won't ship a second order for free?? Why not just wait a week and order it together?? It's go time for all these companies as summer is here, so I'm not surprised they acted like making you a custom colored frame is impossible. Sounds like your more looking for a custom tailor than a pack maker.

The OD green frame you might have seen was with the old system. When they came out with the new frame the color options were reduced in order to keep costs down and keep up with demand. It also sound like Ranger Green is in the pipeline and a few months out, but don't know if that will come to the frames or not. You might be able to find an old Duplex in OD if you asked around, but you may not like it as the entire reason they got rid of it is that the color consistency of the fabric from their supplier wasn't great. I don't see how black shoulder straps and belt are going to get significantly hot.

This is impossible. The OD green fabric was leftover and they have made everything they are going to and when they are gone that's it. If you are set on OD green, order now as this is all they're getting.

I recently had to replace my OD medium belt with a black small belt as they no longer have any OD belts. The thought of going on the internet and bitching about it never once crossed my mind. With a couple of small OD pouches on the belt and the pack on my back the only thing I notice is that, yea, my T1 is still the finest pack I've ever owned!

If anyone ever asks why the belt doesn't match the pack I'll just tell them I'm special and Kifaru customized it just for me

So you're upset with Kifaru because you don't like what they have to offer and because they won't change their offerings to accommodate your wants? Have you reached out to any other companies with the same request? Curious to hear what other manufacturers would say to the single order needs request. Kifaru customer service, and their respective products, is outstanding and droves of people have had positive or above average service from them.

Wow, I was pretty upset at GM a few years ago when they wouldn't put a diesel in a mid sized pickup, hey it worked they just released one because of me!!

Seriously what companies are doing special favors for you? Maybe ask Kuiu to get you some gear in the Kryptek Highlander pattern while you at this, I mean maybe we should demand more companies give us options that they don't carry or offer.

I agree wait a week for the lid or buy else where, maybe call up MR, EXO and SG and see what special color they can get you.

They haven't made anything in OD green for a couple of years now except for a tiny batch they made from a small amount of fabric they found in storage. There's rumor of a return of a mil green but it's just a rumor at this point. There's production reasons they can't do a one off OD frame even if they had a little bit of fabric. It's your choice not to wait until the lids are ready so if shipping is a problem then wait. Kifaru will do as much as is reasonable to help a customer and often more than reasonable but they are a small batch manufacturer not a custom sew shop.

Sounded like Aron was ready to jump in on the Ranger Green by the end of this thread. Sounds like it'd take 2-3 months before it became available. There was a lot of discussion about what color the plastic hardware would be since RG isn't available and average green is not IR compliant. Sounded like CB or tan hardware is most likely.

I agree it's probably coming but is it in 3 months or next spring ? I wouldn't wait on it if I was wanting a pack now.

Maybe you could get Lululemon to make you some Vias Camo yoga pants to go with your matching pack? Who cares what color it is? Get a pack, hunt hard, and soon it will be a nice shade of dark red if you do it right anyway.

A black frame being uncomfortably hot isn't anything to worry about in my opinion. We've got a couple of black frames/belts in the family and they don't overheat. I've never once heard one of my kids say, "Dad, this pack is just too hot to wear."

Pick a color that's available from any of the top tier pack builders and go with it. This should be something fun, not something to get uptight about.

Heck, I'm running a foliage dt1, because it was on sale, with a black frame and wolf grey belt/shoulder straps. I think it looks great.

My setup is currently MC, Highlander, foliage, Ranger green, and black. But I have decided that when I pick up a cargo panel and the 3 or 4 belt pouches I want, they will be whatever color I happen on in the classifieds. But I also don't care how it all looks, I know it will function.
