I've had a few packs from Kifaru. I've had an X-ray, Mollex, and now a Xing. I love the layout of the Xing and it's great for traveling. Hated the mollex because it fit like garbage on me.

I plan to do some overnights with my oldest son when it warms up a bit and I just don't feel like the pack rides well with all the food and gear. It's pretty heavy. I've got pockets to expand the capacity but I almost feel like I'm pushing the suspension beyond its comfortable limits. It's not that it's to heavy, I rucked way heavier and shitty packs being Infantry. It just seems like the pack was ment more as a big day pack.

How much better would it be of I were to get a 24" frame and something like a 22mag? I know it's a little heavier and I'd loose the top load capacity which I love, but it seems like it would better distribute the weight.

The benefits I see from a frame set up would be versatility and comfort. Unfortunately they don't make a bag like the Xing. I could always get a bigger bag as my two younger ones get older to fit more gear.

The downsides would be the weight and added bulk. I don't think I'd want to just throw it in the car and use it as a suitcase or a big rangebag like I have with the Xing.

I was also looking at some of the Mystery Ranch packs but I don't know much about them and they look to tactical for the most part.

My wife has become pretty intolerant of my taste in expensive bags, guns, and gear so I limited to one or the other.

Would I benifit from the framed set ups?
