Hey guys,

I'm thinking about buying a Woodsman and am planning on picking up a couple of belt pouches to run on the sides of the bag, but am having problems deciding on size. Ideally, I'd like to put (2) pretty full medium pullouts in each one of the belt pouches on each side of the pack. On one side I'm planning on putting my kill kit & possibles pouch. On the other side, it'll be my filtration kit, fire kit, & possibles pouch.

Do you think I need large belt pouches for this, or would mediums be fine?

Thanks in advance.

By volume they should work but the shape of items bears some influence.

That sounds like a whole mess of stuff to have on the belt. The belt pouch for me is for items I want to get at without taking my bag off. Kill kit, water filter, and fire kit don't seem to fit that category. I would rethink what you really need there, and I think you get down to small and possibly med pouches. My filter goes in the slot pocket in my bag that is against my back to avoid freezing. My kill kit is buried in the bottom of my bag. If you don't run a bino harness, I would look at that. I have the AGC with the basement. I have meds, headlamp, tripod connector, and In-Reach in there. That covers a few of my key items that I may need quick access to. The large belt pouch is a monster. I have one hooked to a std lid for my super light outings. You can really fit a lot of stuff in there, but i wouldn't want to lug it on my side. Take this for what its worth. I still experiment all the time.

I agree that this would be an insane amount of stuff to have on my belt. I'm not planning on putting it on my belt, it will be on the outside side connection points of the woodsman. The thought is to have all of that stuff accessible without having to get into the main bag.

If I read he original post right, he's not thinking of putting those items on the belt itself but in belt pouches on the side of the pack. Depending on how big the possibles pouch is, I suspect you'll need a large pouch for at least one side

I prefer a medium on the left of belt and mini long and nalgene bottle on the right of my belt, medium gives more room to rummage around without dropping crap on the ground, plus at end of the day I stick my calls and gloves and stuff in there so I know it leaves camp with me in the morning.

Awesome, thanks for all the responses guys! I think I'll probably end up with the large belt pouches for what I want to do.

I never thought about the side of the bag. I cinch the bag down in hunt mode and pockets just pile up and become a pain to use. I hook a med pocket on my bag to put the butt of my gun in on night hikes, and that is about it.
