Kids first vehicle……

1987 Mazda b2200 2wd pickup. When I got it it had almost 200k miles, drove it problem free for a couple years, traded it for 1964 Chevy 4wd 1/2ton. My brother knew a guy who ended up with it a few years after I had it and it had 300k miles and was still going strong.

1972 Toyota Land Cruiser, or as I called it Land bruiser. Inline six, three on the tree. Went were no man had ever gone before. Never once got stuck, but towed many a Ford and Chevys.

1999 Toyota Tacoma aka Stucko. Still going strong. Got it with 120k and he is up to 275k as of last weekend. And yes we have been stuck quite a few times but it's usually my fault.

1984 Dodge Ram, manual transmission, 4x4, bench seat. It had a camper shell with a carpet kit. I loved that truck, lots of good times. When my sister inherited it a few years later, my dad removed the camper and carpet it... didn't want her having any good times I guess, haha

Whatever it is, that kid's going to have a hard lesson in minimum wage vs. a tank of gas in today's climate. Good on you for teaching the value of agriculture. He may just decide an M.D. or J.D. is the way to go in the current times 😂 😂 😂 😂
This is true, however in Upstate NY near Canada, minimum wage is $13.20 and farmers have to pay overtime now… great gig to get a bunch of hours and make some money for high school kid.

1963 Chevy truck .. step side bed with wood slats ... bucket seats attached to 6 x 6's just sitting on the floor board, not actually attached to anything ...pretty sure they melted it down to make an M1A1 Abrams tank ..

Mine was a brown 1977 Jeep CJ5 Golden Eagle. 3 spd 304 V8 with 33in tires and a soft top. I loved that thing. It was fast, loud and just awesome. Nothing like driving in the summer with the top and doors off. Such a feeling of freedom.

Ford Escort Wagon. It wasn’t pretty. It wasn’t fast. It wasn’t cool. But it was cheap, sipped gas, and I always had a place to take the girlfriend.

1994 Toyota Pickup. Started driving it out on the mine lands when I was 12 with my uncle while we were running beagles. Little did I know he would give that truck to me when I turned 16. Lots of critters hauled and good memories running the hills in that truck.

1984 Chevy citation, ugly as hell but ran well for a broke high schooler. Had to buy it myself and have enough to pay insurance on it monthly and gas.

Regret getting rid of it now.

Sweet little car, but grad school took me away from the family and I needed a do it all vehicle so I bought the family work truck off my dad as “my” first vehicle. 2002 Silverado 5.3 V8 with 320k on the odometer. He had a bunch of body work done as a grad gift and I’ve since added a few things to make it the ultimate hunting truck for what I do. Couldn’t be happier with this vehicle right now and plan on making it last till the frame rust out, which there’s no sign of currently.

1974 jeep cj5 w a small lift and 33’z..

Broke and replaced damn near every part on that jeep on the backcountry passes of central Colorado between well about 14-18 yrs 😂 old. Still say it’s safer for a 16 year old to be on Hancock pass than it is to be on I70…

'87 jeep commanche.

It's still around, but a little worse for wear. It was the first truck I managed to take the tailgate off of, sure seems to be a ritual.
I had a spray bombed 5speed 94 Cherokee I ran the hell out of, had almost 300k hard miles on it when I sold it, I still see it running around every so often.

I might want it.....

A '94 would be cool.

I have a buddy who has one, 4 cylinder, 2wd. Thing of course gets some issues for as old as it is, but he daily drives it, paid $500 for it like 10 years ago.

I have put a few clutch slave cylinders in it for him, they suck. That's most all the issue tho.

Mine had a few redneck fixes. Crank sensor went out, to replace you were supposed to drop transmission. Air chisel to the floorboard and it was done in 10 minutes. That's what is nice about beaters it doesn't matter and at $500 you aren't losing any value.. plus Id take it places I wouldn't take my nicer truck. Chevy Tracker now serves my beater purposes but with gas prices it might get stock tires and be my DD lol
