Kanabs or Corrugates?

I am looking to pick up a new set of hunting pants and considering how much I love the rest of my First Lite gear I'm deciding between these two.

I live in New England and would like something I can wear while whitetail and turkey hunting as well as under my chaps for upland hunting. Jeans just don't breath.

Which is most breathable? Durable? Best thermo-regulating? Which would you choose in my situation?

Thanks,
Pat

Kanabs=breathability. Corrugates=durability. Depends on your AO I guess. I have kanab 2's and love them so far, but I'll be purchasing the corrugates for brush busting duties. Kanabs would be awesome early season in a stand (quiet)

I agree, Kanabs would be the best option in your case. I own both and you will like the Merino wool for those cold NE days. The Corrugates are great but Kanabs are the ultimate, just stay clear of the multiflora-rose if you have them in your area, they will wreak havoc on your Kanabs.

If you are staying with First Lite I would go with the Kanabs. I have found the exact same type of pants as the Corrugates(just not camo) for much cheaper. I have yet to find something like the Kanabs.

All of you seem to be on the same page as me. I just ordered some Kanabs 2.0's from Steve at S&S Archery. I have a pair of North Face hiking pants that are almost 100% Nylon and very similar to the Corrugates so I think I'll be really happy with the Kanabs.

Thank guys!

I was going to buy some kuhl renegades but they didn't have my size in the store. I was killing time in a Dillard's and found a pair of marmots on a huge sale. They are 96%nylon and 4%spandex. I don't know how well they will hold up over time but I like them so far.

I have both, although I am only a week and one scouting strip into the Corrugates. My Kanab 1.0s breath a lot better but probably won't shed water as well. The Corrugates were hot on a two hour walk with +85 degrees last weekend in pennsylvania. based on past experience, the Kanabs probably would have been hot as well but would breath a little better. For over 80 degree weather, I am developing a preferrence for lightweight hiking pants over both. The corrugates are cut a bit more slim than the kanabs. My hose test seems to indicate they will shed some water better and they stretch pretty well. In fact they stretch more than I expected and my kanab 1s have zero stretch. I haven't used the corrugates enough to comment on durability but my initial impression is they will hod up better.

For deer and turkey, I am looking for a pant that is comfortable, quiet and can get me through a little drizzle before I have to reach for rain gear. I would say the corrugates are going to see more use in colder and possibly wet weather.

Like you, I wear a set of chaps (filson) for upland hunting. My big hunt each year is in Kansas where weather can be from 80 and sunny to cold with rain and light snow. I plan to try my kanabs on an upcoming trip but I don't know that they will solve the issue. I have also found that I don't like cargo pockets under the chaps as it can chaffe my thighs on long days afield. I will probably end up with my usual jeans or carharts under the chaps. If it looks to be warm I may invest in some filed pants with nylon fronts (built in chaps) as those seem to be the only way to have protection with a least some breathability.

Corrugates have been working well for me. Durable so far. I've logged a couple miles in them going over blow down and creek crossings. They got quieter when I washed them. Love these pants.

FL screwed with sizing so bad this year that I dont know which end is up. Love my kanabs from last year, I wear mediums. Picked up some medium Currogates and the waist is great but they've got to be 2" shorting in the legs. Super annoying. If theres weather, I wear the Currogates (shed water like a champ), if its set to be clean and clear then the Kanabs.

I ended up buying some Kanab 2.0's and freaking Love them. The fit is definitely geared towards thinner guys. I wear a 34" waist but have tree trunk thighs and a huge ass from 20 years of hockey. The pants are a bit right through the seat and thigh but the new stretch panels work great! I still hunted a patch of timber this week. Walking, sitting, kneeling, every position was comfortable a quiet.

Thanks for the advice, I ended up very happy.
