I used to like Joe Rogan when i listened to him. Joe Rogan had some great podcasts when i used to listen to him a decade ago. The bob lazar one sticks out as something i thought i would have no business liking but being an all time great. As far as politics, he doesnt share my politics. I disagree with him on politics 90% of the time. But i have listned to him years ago so i probably understand some of his takes better than some of the people commenting who actually never have listened. I havent listned to him in years so maybe he changed. I cant say.
The draw for joe rogan for years was he was an incredible podcaster. When he hit the scene he was simply the best person interviewing people in that format. He allowed people to talk regardless of what positions they held. joe rogan is entertainment. Not someone i tuned into to get factual information.
As far as hunting, i suppose jealousy is a reason some hunters dont like him. Personally, i think people hating on people like him or any other hunter buying a guided private land hunt are extremely foolish. If you are a DIY public land hunter, those are the kind of people you should encourage to do their thing because you wont be running into them on your hunt. but, worldwide or across this nation far more people have an opinion about Joe Rogan based on his politics or news coverage of his supposed politics, not jealousy about his elk hunts.
I can see that and I appreciate the language of the last sentence that is not presented as an all statement.
It is also true that his hunting ability has no bearing on the quality of his podcast (except on hunting topics). Which my impression was that people who have listened to him on hunting think he got it wrong, but that morphed (or occurred in tandem with; I'm not ready back to see) what could come across as an attack on him only because he doesn't hunt how "we" think he should.
I read some comments as roughly, he doesn't getting hunting stuff correct, which I know about, so I don't trust him. Basically just my opinion, but different topics. He could get it correct on other thigs, but not worth my effort.
Then some were clearly a suggestion that he is an inferior human because of how he hunts. This is stupid, but an easy style of argument to fall into. The equivalent of a soldier getting tunnel vision on a single combatant when three other people in the room also want to kill him and he is responsible for not hindering his buddies. So, one might say it is the human default that must be trained over.
My opinion on Bowmar is exceptionally low. But, I have cancel culture burnout and have largely stopped giving a flaming fart in the night about who I buy stuff from, just make things that work and don't annoy me trying to sell it. I would even be willing to buy a Beast Broadhead if I knew they worked well. But, I'm not willing to research it as other options work and I'm not going out of my way to support Bowmar. Similar to how I was too lazy to call out the bad arguments and defend Rogan.
So, I find the whole discussion an amusing morass and by stepping into that swamp I certainly become part of the circus, not above it.
