Jdog's 11-18 KY Deer Hunt

Colder and no wind should have them moving. What was said earlier about midday is spot on. Big bucks will move around in the middle of the day often this time of the year. Most old bucks pattern the hunters better than the hunters pattern old bucks.

Update-- the 444 just barked!

Had two does sneak in behind and above me from the cedar thicket . As I turned around, they made me in the tree. They flagged and trotted back in the thicket. I whistled and one stopped and I was able to make her broadside but through a lot of brush. I picked a small window and let one go. She jumped and hobbled off . It's early, gonna giver some time then go check. She was up on this hillside whe I shot.

You are too used to the western hunting. Thats not thick ! Keep hunting it's cold enough that she will keep all day if you want and she moved then the big boys will be up later checking on what her and the other does did.

You got that right. It's hard getting used to tree stands again. There's billions of small saplings in here! :)

Just saw three does...no shot opp! Sun is out warming things. Great morning!

Holy buckets...just had nice buck come in on me nose to the ground. He stopped 40 yards away and I pulled up and pulled the trigger--"Click!" Safety on...I punched it off and thumped him in the shoulder! He lunges and run into a thicket. I think I heard him crash! More to come...
