I arrowed one opening day here in AZ. They've been in their usual spots year round.
Got my first javelina Friday ever, and with a bow. Makes my first deer, elk and javelina my first season with archery. I was in 4 herds before I got it done, cause I still choke a little as a newbie archer.

I missed one and then called this boar and another back over the hill crest 20 yards away and stuck him.

It’s a blast hunting the little buggers. I tried a couple years with a rifle, but I couldn’t do it. So got my buddy, a javelina whisperer to take me out. Got it done in the first day with his help.
After a few it should get easy peasy even with a bow. You won’t get them every stalk but almost.

I like javelina hunting. I know it’s not as sexy as other species, but I always have a great time. They are good to eat too. Spaghetti and tacos! Yum. Got this big girl last Feb.

gotta get a tag here soon! They are thick on the family ranch outside Prescott, I had to try the distress call to see if that works and it absolutely does, fat little dude came charging out of his bed, would trot off and then would charge back over when I blew it again. They are just funny little critters.

A couple years ago, I blasted the distress call. This guy came for me instead of the pig I was expecting…

That’s wild! Gramps has told me that since they introduced javelina seemed like the lions and coyotes ate more of them than his calves and he was alright with that

I believe that. Two days later my buddy called in a big bobcat using the same distress call and shot him close range too… ironically, I have never had a pig respond to it yet, but it works damn good for cats apparently. Haha.

That is awesome I will keep that in mind. I figured coyotes would come in to it. I usually do a couple sets while I’m tooling around. Congrats on the cats!

Yotes do respond too. I called two in last Feb for my wife with that same call. A double came in hot and she buck-fevered herself into a panic and missed. Good times though, I laughed my ass off. The call is the orange one from sportsman’s warehouse.
