issue with vortex viper hd 10x50

recently picked up a new pair of these. overall i like them, big step up from the celestron outland x 10x50 I've been using for the last four years. however, approximately the bottom third of the image is distorted and not clear enough to see. if i was glassing a hillside and wanted to see an animal that wasn't already extremely visible in the bottom third of the field of view, i'd have to tilt the binos down. i've looked around at reviews of these and nobody seems to mention this. is it an issue with the vipers generally or does the pair I received need to be sent back to vortex? thanks

You'll get to know the folks in the return department pretty well until you sell them. They're nice people.
