Vortex Viper HD 6x32

Has anyone had significant ownership experience with these vortex viper HD 6 x 32? I tried a pair of these many years ago on a river rafting trip and remember being pretty impressed with them and been on the lookout ever since. I’ve ordered returned two pairs of the Kowa 6.5x 32’s as both had major issues right out of the box. Optically they were amazing. They just did not appear to be well made.

I finally found a pair of the discontinuef Vortex for sale and just thought I would check in to see if anyone else owns a pair.

What did you like about them the first time?
420’ FOV isn’t very exciting for a 6x. Plenty of 6.5’s and 8’s with a much wider view.

No experience with the Vortex 6x32, but I am extremely happy with my Maven 8x30s and I know they offer a 6x30. Quality and optically wise they are very nice.

All things considered, the Maven 8x30s are perhaps the finest optical package on the market. I once had a set but gave them away when I upgraded to Swaro 8x32s. That is a superb design. While they're also optically very good, the 6x30 Mavens aren't as pleasing to use as the 8s through due to the field of view. It feels like you're peering through a pipe. I was crushed when I found that out. With a few tweaks, this could be the alpha-level 6X we've been waiting for.

I have a non-HD pair. Great little glass for the power. Not as forgiving as the high dollar glass, Inter-pupillary distance and eyecup set up is critical, but once set up properly they are a pleasure to use. At the price point they’re very handy for general use. I like my 8x32 ELs a whole lot more but just can’t ever seem to pull the trigger on selling the 6’s.

I just bought the UHD 18x56 for spotting and UHD 8x32 (killer deal at Midway) for the wife.
