Is this orange vest legal?

I did the same thing a while ago, purchased an orange shirt thinking it would work for hunting, but after seeing it in person, I've never worn it as my orange. Regardless of legality, safety is the number one priority for me. There is no way I would wear that as my orange.

I get what you guys are saying about safety but I have to chuckle a little bit because just days ago on this same forum, there were quite a few members who were rejoicing at the fact that AZ does not require any orange at all. LOL I guess nobody who would see this vest as a safety concern is hunting AZ without orange?

True that, I was the one who posted that thread. Couple of guys seemed "amazed" that I was asking about it.

Given the choice I wouldn't wear Orange most of the time. At most I'd wear a hat or a panel strapped to my pack if I'm packing out game. I absolutely despise having to wear orange in the name of "safety".

Depends on the State. Ours regs say “solid daylight fluorescent orange”, so I’d say “no” here.

TX regs are clear as mud on orange... some places state it has to be fluorescent, some just say "orange", some say it has to be solid orange vest but camo patterned hat is ok, some state orange camo is ok...good stuff!

If you're gonna buy that from the Columbia store PM me, I have a discount code for there that's good until November.

Dang. Too late. It only cost me $45 shipped though. Even if I decide not to wear it, it's worth that to me as it is very well made. Never would have guessed I might wear a small in that vest, but the medium will work great to go over a few layers and I expect it to last a very long time.

Thanks for the offer though!

jspradley, I called the local GW at both the public areas I hunt to see whether camo orange was allowed. One GW said it was (so that's what I wear there) and another GW at the area 60 miles away said it wasn't (FS land) so I wear solid orange there. No big deal really but it pays to call the GW and ask whenever in doubt. The place that allows camo orange is bowhunting only so I'll take every advantage I can get there.
