Is the TBAC Ultra 7 still relevant?

No doubt they are a good company.

For the most part their tech hasn’t changed in a decade (if ever????). The U7 is still a good can for sure.

But apples to apples the newer 3D printed stuff is ahead of performance.

You can have similar performance in a ~5” 7oz can. Does that make the U7 bad? No.

But history does show companies that fail to innovate die. I don’t think TBAC is there yet, but it’s about time they try a bit. Their loyal customer base will only last so long without innovation.

Well they did update the ultra series a few years ago, introduced the Magnus series and the fly pistol series. Now they’re bringing a low back pressure can to market which I believe is 3D printed? I am admittedly a fanboy but I don’t see them going anywhere. They will outlast many of these newcomers IMO. Seems like everybody and their brother wants in the suppressor market now that stamps are $0.

There are plenty of Ultra 7s available on the market. Just takes a bit of Googling or inquiring with TBAC to find out who has them.

Still a great can. I have some of the others and really we are getting to the point where the differences are really negligible. Guys on here are arguing ounces and a few decibels.

I like my OG 6.5 too, but I’m saving 3” and sub 3oz for same sound. 3” and 3oz isn’t much of anything.

Tbac is also a great company to work with and provides the summit to have real test data out there that is directly comparing cans.

The Ultra 7 is still a good suppressor for its length, but to say that 3” of extra length “isn’t much of anything” doesn’t make sense to me. Maybe you have been taking your wife’s mollifying protestations a bit too seriously? Length matters a great deal, at least on my hunting rifles. Not only does it get in the way in various carry positions, but the weight distribution on a longer suppressor can significantly affect the balance.

I completely agree that TBAC is a great company. The past year has seen a lot of innovation and I think this year will see even more. It would make me really happy to see TBAC at least keep pace, even if they don’t rush to the forefront of the market. A gen3 3d-printed can would be good for them, I think.

There were like 3 on gunbroker last time I checked, everyone locally was out. I always order mine direct and it takes like 6 months to get them.

I wish they still made the dominus, it’s my favorite can.

I have a bunch of suppressors. Newer cans from
Some companies that started after Thunderbeast etc. My two TBAC cans are my favorite of all I have. They Sound the best to my ears and others. And you can just tell they are built with quality.


Now days there are so many new suppressor companies popping up. I’m not convinced because they are new and used 3-d printing that it makes them better than the tried and true Thunderbeasts.
