Is the TBAC Ultra 7 still relevant?

What do you guys think? Is this still a can that matters in 2026? Same with stuff like the CGS Hyperion, Nomad Ti, basically the gold standards from a few short years ago.

With cans like the US OG6.5, Reaper, Airlock ZG available, is there any reason to consider these flagship suppressors?

I have an opportunity to pick up a U7 demo can for silly cheap, I'm 99% sure I'll get it since it's for sure the best can for the money I could get. It just got me thinking that at regular price I don't think it would even be in consideration for me.

even if it isn't relevant in 26, I would buy it if its a great price. Any can on a rifle is good. I am excited by the fact I have a bunch of coworkers and friends that have finally decided that buy-in one is worth it. I'd have one on every rifle.... if I didn't have so many rifles.... lol

It’s the Toyota Camry of suppressors, always works, good cs, and they just work. Most tests use them as the baseline.

They’re not particularly easy to get though.

There are cheaper suppressors that perform better, so I personally wouldn’t buy one now. That said, I’m sure they do well enough to get the job done and leave someone satisfied with their purchase. Lots of people have them and love them.

I have a Gen 1 Ultra 7. I still love it. Still have zero point of impact shift after thousands of rounds.

Haha, I think I might not have made it all that clear what I'm thinking. I know the U7 is as good a suppressor as it ever was. It seems like TBAC is charging like it's still king of the mountain. Have the young guns knocked it off the peak such that it's no longer a great option compared to current $1200 cans?

I am getting one, I can get it for somewhere between Polonium and Wolf Hunter money. I'm not worried about the value I'm getting.

I'd prefer something a little shorter, but suppression/weight/precision is way ahead of others in that range. Not sure it still competes at over a grand. It'll spend most of its life on a 16" .223 as of right now. I only have a couple AB raptors to compare head to head but I'll report back.

I don’t think I’d say the newer cans have significantly topped the Ultra 7. Many of the newer ones have gone to 1.6-1.7” diameter to get a little more volume allowing you to run shorter with more suppression. TBAC even does that with the Magnus series.

Still a great can. I have some of the others and really we are getting to the point where the differences are really negligible. Guys on here are arguing ounces and a few decibels.

I like my OG 6.5 too, but I’m saving 3” and sub 3oz for same sound. 3” and 3oz isn’t much of anything.

Tbac is also a great company to work with and provides the summit to have real test data out there that is directly comparing cans.
