I’ve got a few scopes with this capability, i have yet to order a CDS dial though. I did call them and if you give them all your data they will cut it to your specs. As in 300 yards is 5 clicks, 400 yards is 11 clicks and so on. They will do it to your actual data.

I feel like the value of CDS is seriously reduced with on board ballistics included on most rangefinders today. I had a custom turret made 5 years ago and it was fine but frustrating to change ammo and be out $80. It was also a few clicks off at sea level versus 8,000 feet where I was hunting at 500 yards.

I was excited hearing about the cds dial a few years ago when just dipping my toes into longer ranges. I quicky learned that with a 200 yard zero most bullets drop less than you expect. And atmospheric changes and elevation affect bullets more than you expect. I've now switched to ballistic reticles which I find to be much faster than the cds dial out to normal hunting ranges. Plus dialing mils or moa is much easier than I thought it would be. Im not saying that the dials are bad. Just that you can learn to be better than them pretty easily.

Just use the MOA turret.
I could but it has no zero stop so therefore I would be re sighting in my rifle every time I had the opportunity at a shot 300 plus. My vortex viper is a mil dot reticle I can read mils, I wish my Leupold was a mil dot reticle.

I can read mil dots so with my vortex viper on my 300 mag I'm comfortable out to 500 yards but this duplex in this Leupold is worthless imo that's the reason I want a Cds but there's to many reasons I'm probably not going to.

I thought the VX series scopes either came with a zero stop on an MOA turret or they dont. In either case, ordering a CDS dial wouldn't add a zero stop if it didn't already exist. I think this is how my first gen VX6 worked but i cant recall if I had to order a MOA turret as my CDS election or if it just came that way.

I don't know why you think you'd need to sight in your rifle after dialing. Dial it back to zero and go forth. Sure, it's easier to lose which rev you're on without a zero stop but I find i'm seldom/never that close to a full rev for hunting shots anyway.

Have used scopes like the SWFA 3-9 SS without a zero stop for a long time and have had very little issue losing which rev i'm on in hunting distance shots or use cases.

So actually it does the turret that's on it now ist just like a covered turret u take this turret off when u get ur css dial put it on and it's got a zero stop.

I'd suggest giving Leupold a call (800-538-7653) & speak to one of their technical product support folks. They're very helpful & will explain / answer anything you want to know.
