is it legal to be on a public road that goes thru private?

So on Onx there are roads marked in purple with designated numbers on them. If those roads go thru private are you allowed to be on them? This is Idaho I'm talking about. If I click on the road outside of the private it says " managed by Idaho department of lands". If i click on the road inside of the private it says " managed by the owner of the land" .

Call the local authority and get it from the horses mouth, that way if somebody tries to give you grief for it they will back you.

If there is a public access easement, it's legal to use. You should be able to get this information from the county assessor.

I ran into this issue this year. Forest service road that started on public, ran through several private parcels and then back into public. On one tiny little parcel that the road passed through it said “private” when I clicked on the road in OnX. I called the ranger station and asked them what the deal was as it makes no sense that they would develop a road through private ground without an easement but turns out that was indeed the case. They told me they could not give me permission to travel that road and I should contact the private land owner

There are public land easements and public roads that are privately maintained. In Idaho it doesn’t have to be publicly maintained to be public.
