IOS 18 is available

It's meaningless in terms of privacy protection, but vague enough that it gives them full latitude to do whatever the hell they want with your data to make more money.
Yeah, but what’s that mean? What do they want to do with my data?

I’m still not getting any answers. Just vague supposition.

Do you know what a data broker is?
Do you how you're being bucketed and sold?
From nearly every company you have an account with.
Companies dont readily disclose who and how they sell your info.
The privacy policy has ensured they dont have to tell you.
I dont know how or if onx sells your data. Apple for sure does monitize your data.

"Messages via satellite is available in the U.S. and Canada. It's free for two years after the activation of an iPhone 14 or later (all models)."

And after?
Better prepare yourself for a good ole apple price gouging

I would say they do what most companies do, sell it to advertisers that are looking for a demographic based off what you do, i don’t think they are selling waypoints for elk and deer hunters.

key word: individual

They are aggregating and anonymizing. So if you're dropping blood tracks or posting "big bull" on waypoints, those are easily aggregated by OnX. Pretty amazing what even amateur data scientists can do with lots of data. It would be easy to filter out successful hunters from Texans.

Thanks for the actual information regarding the IOS18 sat texting.
As for the rest of the conspiracy theorists, please take it somewhere else.

I'll do what I want, where I want.

Do yall realize that your vehicle manufacturer is selling your information?

Everytime your phone connects to your vehicle (if you use that) it's logging, capturing, and sending information on what you are doing, mostly to insurance companies I believe.

That might not be personal data per se, but a collection of data that you are part of the data base.

Absolutely. Everything with a modem is selling your data. I don't care if apple sells my intimate photos for ML training, but I do feel uneasy about my honey holes being scraped. That's over the line.

The good news is that I think any pictures of your honey holes are safe! I think Apple proposed some sort of ability to scan iCloud pictures to find and report CSAM, but I think that was abandoned.
