Investor insight please.

Update. I've been off work for 18 days so far. 8 of those days off were totally unnecessary. I'm just doing it to see how it goes. So far I haven't spoken to single person from work lol.

It's actually pretty hard mentally, to burn vacation or not make money when I don't really have a reason to. But it's been pretty cool just hanging out with my wife, drinking coffee as the sun comes up, doing house stuff I've been putting off, cleaning up hunting stuff and getting ready for the next hunts.

I don't miss work whatsoever. It never even crosses my mind haha.

It turns out, actually spend way less money during hunting season, than in preparation for hunting season also. I'm just coasting financially with not many high dollar purchases.
I’ve got 25 days off coming up and I’m hoping to spend about half of that hunting and the other half chilling with the family. Hard for me to go more than about 10 days hunting without starting to feel a bit burnt out

Oh absolutely. 10 days is plenty long for me as well. I normally plan 7 full hunt days, with one travel day on each end. That’s been pretty good for me personally.

I don’t mind a little longer than a week but I usually plan a “sleep in” day in the mix unless the hunting is really good

Update. I just finished my 67 day hiatus from work. It was awesome. I got to be along for 12 animals, taken across 5 states. Probably only 50 of those days were actually hunting and the rest were just chilling at home, or doing things with my wife and kids. I didn’t think about work for 1 second hahaha. Might try to make it an annual thing. Anyways, I’m glad I asked and glad I stuck to it. I’m poor now, but that’s okay hahaha. Freezers are full 🙌🏻.

Your trade, like mine, dangles that carrot endlessly. I used to chase it and make a ton of money, now I still try and catch it often, but realize that time away and/or with family, is much more important at this stage of my life. I set myself up so I don't always HAVE to be working. I gotta say tho, those checks after working crazy hours for 2 weeks are a little addicting. 😆

That’s right 😎. But I couldn’t take the two weeks off work in between lol.

Oh that’s for sure! I get after the work pretty good in the summer. But that’s about it now lol

Work to live not live to work.

Just looked at my leave for work. Gotta use it before the end of the year. Pretty solid chance I only have about 5 days of actual work between now and the first of the year.

I’m pretty much in the same boat. Boss keeps saying “you’re going to be gone all Dec”. I say yep!
