Love the discussion on this topic. Everyone owes it to themselves and their future to ask these questions. Everyone has different goals as well as risk tolerances when it comes to investing.
My the best advice I ever got was: YOU are the investor and don’t rely on anyone else to TELL you what to invest in. Spend some valuable time understanding what you are investing in. IF YOU don’t understand it then you shouldn’t invest in it.
That being said what has worked for me has been real estate (mainly farmland) as I grew up on a row-crop farm in IL. Bought my first farm when I was 22 and sold it to buy the next one with a 1031 exchange. I have since rolled it 4 times now and have multiple properties without paying any capital gains tax on the increase in value. Planning to sell again soon to buy more rental properties.
I also put money into a Roth IRA when I was young (back when the max contribution was $1000/yr) and continually added and rolled 401k’s into it when I left different companies that I worked for.
The first 9 of 10 years my wife was in school after we got married. She has more degrees than a thermometer. Lol. We lived very frugally doing those times and had very little school debt when she finally graduated with an DVM & MBA degrees. We have bought 2 different businesses and sold 1 so far.
The wealthiest people I know are business owners. The next wealthiest are landowners.
If she didn’t have a nasty habit of liking horses (read hayburners here….

) we would have lots more free cash!
Real estate, stocks, business investing. Next goal is to buy into my current company as an owner. Sorry I didn’t get into crypto as I didn’t and still don’t understand it…
As a business owner - YOU are in control of your own schedule. Just make sure you have the right people around you when you aren’t there!
Anyway, JUST PAY ATTENTION and you will be better off than 90% of the population!!
