Depending on how you load it, it could push through like before.
Got it. We are on the same page. I originally bought the DT2 two years ago and it served it's purpose quite well, just thought I could use a few extra CI to haul meat and camp without too much hassle. Then the Nomad came out with seamed to provide great flexibility when combined with the camp bag. I'm thinking I might just have to "upgrade" again.

How well does the load shelf work with the bikini frame? I'm assuming the load will bulge through since this happened with my water bladder quite often.

My plan is to run a latticework of 550 cord between the stays on the bikini to keep stuff from poking through. Cheap, quick, easy, and plenty light. Doesn't seem too hard to make minor mods to keep stuff from slipping through.

No. The weight difference on this small of a pack is almost none, so we are just going the 1000d. Pluss it can be a direct sale for hunting and military with one pack.

I think this is as close as it gets to an ideal day pack that can easily transform into a multi-day hauler. The OCD gram weenie in me wishes it was built in 500D using just tabs for hanging pockets (like on the HC) instead of 1000D and pals. Although, I completely understand from a business perspective why they are producing the latter. The Rambler still has my attention. Well done guys...

I agree... close to what I was hoping for but the 1000D and pals feel like a total waste. I also wish it had a center zip. When kifaru put a center zip on the camp bag I was hoping it was something they rolled out more.

I'm with you guys on wanting it as light as possible. But, I know from experience that if you want to hang stuff on the outside of the bag, this combo is better. I've ripped the webbing off more than one 500 Cordura pack.

I've been able to see this pack in person and it's pretty slick. The load sling is easy to use. The PALS give a lot of different options for attaching pockets and pouches. I think this pack will be very popular for both the weekend western hunter and the whitetail hunter.

I agree about its usefulness when whitetail hunting. It looks like I could easily strap a Lone Wolf Climber in the load sling using the low mount position.

Good deal, significantly lighter than the EMR2 then. The Rambler would make a good compliment to the EMR2 for a 2 pack system.

Exactly what I was thinking - great compliment to my EMR II. Now, need to decide if I want to try a bikini versus my duplex.

I've been using the Bikini with my EMR2, no complaints.
The crossbars on the Bikini frame would probably prevent the gun from settling in between the stays; if I'm visualizing it right ;)

That's a no brainer! Everyone needs both!

Can't see personally when I would ever need a pack like this one as the EMR 2 works fine for day hunts for me as well. But I don't have a big heavy LR rifle so maybe that's why?

Luke, I was actually talking/ joking about both frames.

And we all know the Moffats don't even consider a pack under 25,000 c.i.! Haha

Hey now I just ordered up an itty bitty mountain warrior. The smallest cubic in Kifaru pack I have purchased to date ;). So I am making progress ;)

Any chance of a smaller duplex frame to mount the rambler on? Maybe 21"? It would make it much lower profile for use as a day-pack. Almost like an "omni-suspension" version.

I almost get shoulder lift out of 19" stays :)

Would be nice but dont hold your breath, Ive been trying to talk them into making a short torso duplex for years.

In the past, I don't think any of Kifaru's bags would fit on a smaller duplex frame. Now we have a bag for that frame. Maybe more will come in the future?

The idea has been tossed around by multiple people to have omni packs with a hypalon sleeve so you can switch between bags like the duplex. To me, the Kifaru rambler seems like a great opportunity for that since the bag itself is only 20" tall.

With the new k-buckle and how it's used to attach the Kifaru rambler in lieu of a hypalon sleeve, you get a much simpler and quicker way of detaching the bag from the frame.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to picking one of these up. Any chance of Kifaru offering the "loco lid" again? The loco lid fits the DT2 bag and obviously the loco really well. I like it for my loco. I will pick another one up if it is available when I order.
