I have these order and am inclined to go this route. How many folks go with dovetail? Will have virtually zero recoil, so I’m sure dovetail would be fine, but image below just seems more secure. I don’t plan on swapping optics frequently, if ever.

Tikka dovetail rings will have a recoil pin that goes in the hole in the top of the receiver. In my opinion they are way more skookum than the rings that depend on the shear strength of tiny 6-48 screws.

Well, I ordered the DNZ Grim Reaper 2 direct mount rings in Medium height last week. They showed up on Tuesday, but I messed up and ordered 30mm tubes. Tried to cancel on Amazon, but they showed up anyway. Funny part is they refunded my purchase but said, "No need to send product back." I wonder if the markup on these things is 1,500% or something. Seems like they'd want an $80 part back.

ANYWAY, I mounted the 30mm rings loosely just to check scope fit, and my 50mm scope with 1" tube isn't high enough. According to DNZ, their 1" single piece mount has a bit more height between gun action and bottom of ring, but they don't post that stat for the two piece. The 1" rings should show up today. We'll see, but I'm not hopefully.

Damn... now says rings coming tomorrow. Glad his birthday isn't until mid-June!
