I'm from Florida and not well cold adjusted but I wear non insulated boots and have no problem. At one point this fall it was about 20º , blowing about 15-20 mph , and there was close to 8 inches of snow. Just about everything else was freezing but my feet were fine in my Hanwag Yukons and Darn Tough socks. I believe the crucial part is moisture management. The wool socks and good breathing boots kept my feet warm and dry and I don't believe there is enough insulation in any boot you can hike in to keep your feet warm when they get soaked from sweat or snow. I think in most situations the insulation becomes self defeating. Warm enough for sitting is too warm for hiking so your feet sweat and soak your feet and then when you stop the wet feet negate the insulation. You would be better served with insulated boot covers you can slip on for sitting. Another trick for sitting is to loosen the laces and the boots. I do that when I sit in a treestand for hours in the cold and find it really helps.
