Seriously, bro....do not underestimate what grows out of the earth naturally. Much better than all of the toxic chemicals in any of the non-natural sleep aids, and works 10 times better. Roast a bowl of some happy sativa, play the Bob Marley channel on Amazon music, and drift away in pure, relaxed, peacefulness. If you are in or near Colorado, or any other state that allows the recreational use, this should be a no-brainer. Hopefully not much longer until it is legal on the federal level. I have a commercial license, so I can’t partake in the nightly ritual and I’m not saying that when it becomes legal I will be a pothead, but I will smoke every day.

Not to belabor this, but what is sold bears no resemblance to what grew from the earth originally. It has been hybridized to increase THC content to serve the market.

In the 70s THC content was around 4%, today there are 20 and even 30% strains, this aside from the concentrates.

No, what you are smoking today is not “of the earth,” it’s designed to whack your mind.

My apologies captain buzzkill.

A female plant starved of the male plant’s pollen produces more trichomes which naturally raises the THC level of the plant. This was not common practice in the 70’s and through decades of research and ORGANICALLY growing these pollen starved female plants, the THC level has risen. What’s the difference of smoking 4 bowls of 4% THC weed rather that 1 bowl of 20%?

Im certain that there are individuals that have their minds “whacked out” by smoking weed, just as there are those that are alcoholics and pill poppers. If given the opportunity to treat an ailment, I would much rather do it with something that grows from the earth rather than feed a corrupt pharmaceutical industry that peddles man-made poisons designed to commit the body to addiction.

Defensiveness is often a result of knowing your are wrong and not being able to accept it.

And I’m glad you equated alcoholism and pill poppers to weed. Remember, you did that, not me.

Cheers.

There are a lot of medical conditions that can affect your sleep. Get the condition(s) handled and sleep improves markedly. Individual as well as different combinations of medications can have unwanted affects affecting sleep. First thing I would do is get a good medical workup.

If your medical workup is unsuccessful in identifying the problem, I would see a specialist that handles sleep disorders. I would avoid sleep medications if possible. The medications typically handle the problem in the short term, but can have long term unintended consequences.

A remark made in jest is far from defensiveness and I in no way equated the three. That’s a pretty big assumption to try and prove a point.

It is comical that you find an explanation to counter your very flawed ideals about weed as “defensive” and proceed to describe the act of being “defensive” as something that it has nothing to do with. Perhaps in your personal experiences you get defensive as a result of knowing you are wrong and not being able to accept it, but your claim of that this is often the case for everybody else is laughable at best.

Cheers

Marijuana.

Delta 8 Vape Pens specifically. Doesn't contain the compounds that cause anxiety from traditional weed (delta 9). Very therapeutic, legal in most states. A couple hits an hour before bed should have you sleeping like a baby.

Been using ambian since 2014. It works well. They give me a 10 MG pill, I break it in half 90% of the time. If I wake up around 2 I sometimes feel a little out of it, but not bad at all.

I do not feel groggy in the morning at all and can generally get 6 hours of solid sleep.

Pretty happy with it.

I fall asleep pretty easy but have issues with waking up.

Can't do anything MJ related, don't like melatonin, Tylenol PM makes me feel tired in the morning.

Out of curiosity, do you hold the same views about every animal and plant that humans have bred in order to change the nature of the end product? Every single animal and plant product that you have ever bought at the grocery store has been bred to be more "potent" in some way: bigger fruit or larger muscles, more resistant to disease, increased growth rate.

Are you against owning dogs and cats? Nothing in nature comes remotely close to pretty much any breed that exists in the world today.

Seems very strange to me to draw a line with this plant if you aren't drawing the same line with every other animal/plant product in the world.

I used to sleep the sleep of the just until about fifteen months ago. Then a sudden event changed all of that. I've struggled since. Tried booze, edibles, over the counter sleep aides, weed, meditation, relaxing music, cold medicine, etc. Kept the cell out of the bed. I've read more books in that time than I have in the last thirty years and that's not embellished one damn bit.

On top of insomnia, I've had nightmares that would wake the dead. I've literally have had stretches of not sleeping for 2-3 days at a time. Thank God I'm retired.

I also have sleep apnea. Using my CPAP is critical for me to fall asleep and stay asleep. I also have found a brand of melatonin that works but I need two pills. So that's my Rx for now and its works maybe 70-80% of the time. I've used Mtn Ops Slumber that does work but it's not cheap.

As a side note: Those of you who replied to the OP's post with remarks you seem to think are funny just plain suck. Nothing funny about it.

I hope my reply was not viewed with any negativity attached, some folks would be surprised by what a nicely rolled doobie could do to help them relax a little before bed time. But......to each their own ehhh?

Man, a lot of potheads here. I don’t know what other term to use so that’s it. (I don’t have anything against it…I just don’t like the smell, and I don’t/can’t/won’t use it).

Try the basics first. Go to bed as close to same time as possible every day. Wake up about the same time every day. Go easy on caffeine and alcohol as others have said. Don’t eat a massive dinner.

Weed smokers would be more appropriate.

I think you would be absolutely floored to learn how many people that are part of your everyday life are regular marijuana users.

22% of Americans regularly use weed, and I think that number is probably higher.

Anyone else really struggle with insomnia? Anyone take any medicine for it? I usually use melatonin and valerian and advil pm when its really bad. But Im really getting tired of not sleeping well.

Lots of suggestions to use Melatonin... unsurprisingly, adding an exogenous hormone to your body regularly can have unintended effects that most of us would probably want to avoid:

Also, not sure how this hasn't been mentioned yet... you don't have to smoke weed to get the positive effects of THC on sleep? Now that it's legal most places, you can easily buy edibles that are professionally made with pre determined amounts of cannabinoids. If you don't want any psychoactive component, you can take CBD oils specifically designed to help you rest. Any of those options is much, much less destructive for you than Ambien/ Benadryl/ alcohol...
