Incidental elk taking!

Here in tn. If you are legally hunting deer , you can harvest a bull or cow elk without a tag if it gets off the elk reservation:) all you have to do is contact a fish and game Biologist to come and assess the situation before you move the carcass:)

How often do they wander off of the res?
Quite frequently! It’s not fenced! It’s the borders of a couple counties and a county road or two, it’s an imaginary line! People have taken pictures of small herds in crossville and bffalo valley 30 and fifty miles away!

Elk are considered exotic in Texas, and can be hunted/killed year round.

I have had them hit my guzzler and feeder incidentally, but never when I'm actually in the area and would be able to hunt them.

Usually only seem them around for a day or so and then they move off for a couple of months.
