In search of... Reasonably priced 6 piece steak knife set not made in China

I have Rada and ALFI. Both made in the USA. Rada are nicer. The ALFI are more of a restaurant grade knife like you'd get at a Sizzler, but they are like $45 for 12.

You can get a three pack of Victorinox paring knives on Amazon for $17......made in Switzerland. I'd use those for steak knives before I used most of the Chinese crap I've seen. But good forged knives not made in China will cost you. We bought Wusthoff years ago and they're still like new.

For steak knives in my house? I use Old Timer Sharpfinger(s)!

When I shattered my wrist, it was the only knife I could work pretty well one-handed with my wrist being jacked-up and I couldn't put much down-pressing force on the fork-holding hand. I've used them ever since.

I have a cool old bone handled sharpfinger my late father won in a set during a Whitetails Unlimited banquet. Very cool knives that make short work of deer.

Chinese is off the table and this knocks a ton of brands off the list including Henckels.

I've heard good things on here about Victorinox, especially on the "cheap stuff that works" thread. I took a quick look at their site and they have their lower priced models as well as some of the higher end stuff for $50 or so each.

Wusthoff are made in Germany, but 4 steak knives for $290 is out of my price range.

RADA has some nice looking sets, and at their price point I'm not out much. Plus, the compnay is based out of Iowa, so they are probably worth a try.

With unlimited budget I'd have a full custom forged kitchen set made, but I'm a ways off from that day. LOL!

If you need high end steak knives to cut your steak you got the wrong steak!

We have Wusthoff knife set but not steak knives, also a Global sushi knife.

These are really nice. Sharp and slim and all stainless, so should be fine in dishwasher. Be careful as laguile is a style not a brand, so quality can vary.

I’ve been using dexter Russell commercial fillet and butcher knives for awhile and like them. They’re reasonably priced, get sharp and are durable. They have several different types and and grades of knives and a few different steak knives, some are imported some are us made. I think the usa ones are about $12 apiece. They will laser engrave them too which made a fillet knife for my brother an even better gift.

Don’t know if they make steak knives but we got a Toa or Tao chefs knife a couple years ago and have really liked it. I believe they are made in Japan.

Cutco or Shun
Cutco is a good company and they make quality cutlery with a bullet proof guarantee. However, they do make you pay for it. $320 for a set of 4 steak knives. I was gifted a Cutco clip point hunter with double-d serrated edge and it is wicked sharp. Cuts through sternum and pelvis like a saw.

I think I'm gonna give RADA a try and see how it goes.
