Anyone carrying anything with them for taking care of their guns? Obviously I think as Roksliders we try and fool proof our stuff before hand.
Never really done any backpack rifle hunts. Always been with the struggle stick.
Just wondering if there's thing a guy should throw in the pack just in case. Maybe a small collapsible cleaning rod in case the kid dumps her muzzle in the mud and the end wasn't taped. Or if guys have had issues and wished they'd of had something.

Thanks fam

I don’t, I live and hunt in Alaska. This years moose hunt our guns were literally soaked with for 3 days. Got home just let them air dry and they are fine minus a little gunk. Took 15 minutes to clean 2 rifles and now they look brand new.

If I had a blued rifle I might consider bringing oil but I have stainless and cerakoted rifles.

I don’t carry anything. In the truck for a hunt or match I have:

-cleaning supplies, including rod
-spare parts kit including firing pins, ejector/extractors, bolt stops and trigger group
-torque wrench with bits
-spare bolt
-spare scope mount
-applicable batteries
-Garmin chrono
-plenty of ammo

Besides spare scope, I can fix about anything that isn’t catastrophic with the above

Never carry anything on a backpack hunt but true backpack hunts are a rarity for me. Rifle seasons I've hunted are usually cold enough that i'm not interested in keeping water liquid and dealing with similar cold weather BS away from a vehicle.

I carry a boresnake incase I get some crud in the barrel. Otherwise just a set of applicable allens for every screw.

In the field:
Wraps of electrical tape around barrel to retape muzzle as needed

I've started carrying an extra mag in my pack after one disappeared from the gun last fall in the field (I blame my son :p ).

I carry an Atsko Rapid Rod, only the jag for the caliber I'm using, and however many patches fit in the little velcro pouch the rod comes in. The peace of mind is worth the 2oz weight penalty for me.

A stumble and planting the barrel in the dirt hard enough to break through the electrical tape keeping rain out has put more than one person on the disabled list until they cleaned the bore.

Nothing is lighter than 6’ of thin weed trimmer line folded in half and a big cotton patch sized to match your bore. Helps to tie a knot in the loose ends so you can pull easier. It coils up nicely in a small zip lock. I packed that thing everywhere for a decade and never needed it. It’s easier to just have a second rifle at the trailhead and swap.

for as long as i can remeber i have carried a zip loc bag with a piece of oiled wool or flannel, a few patches and 3 ft of weed eater line.

with a SAK or a multi tool i can take care of most troubles.

wipe your rifle down every night or it may rust.
