Importance, or not, of 3D deer target

When I was preparing for an elk hunt I made a life size target out of a piece of plywood and set it in front of a bag target. Worked pretty well.

Carboard cutouts have served me well over the years and I don't have to pay $500 for the carboard. lol

For several months before and during deer season that's all I will shot. Gets you used to picking a spot.

I shoot everyday during my lunch break at a bag target that I made myself. I really like to stump shoot when I am out scouting new spots to hunt or on my way in or hunt on hunts with blunt. I really enjoy shooting 3D, I shoot all winter long once or twice a week at a club down the road from my house. I would like to shoot more 3D in the summer but I am usually fishing or scouting.

For most traditional shooters the back stop is more important than the target.

My wife bought me a Big Shot 3d target this year and it has been excellent in helping me with getting ready for season. I think it’s important to practice how you hunt and learn shot angles from tree stands too.

Once I have a bow/arrow combo dialed in using a block or bag, most of my shooting is stumps or chasing the tennis ball around the yard. 3D target and shoots are nice but not necessary IMO.
