i have a love/hate relationship with danner. i ran an old USA made pair into the dirt. 11 years.

bought a replacement pair of Danner Pronghorns..and demoted them to dog-poop clean up duty (doody?) after one season. my feet got wet turkey hunting, the easy hunt in my life. no way they survive a backwoods trip. additional lesson learned? a lugged sole is not the best choice while doing a grid search for dog crap. trust me on this one. :)

i found myself standing outside a Danner store this past saturday.. (very boutiquey feel to the store. weird.) i tried on a pair of Crater Rims. i am looking for a hiking boot. tired of wearing my heavy hunting boot on backpack only trips. man that boot is nice!! i had to drop half a size, but it felt like a house slipper. soft, fit me nice. and light compared to my hunting boot.

i didnt buy them. i was still stinging financially from the sleeping bag purchase the day before. my wife gave me the reluctant green light tho.

i walked away.

anyone wearing them? i now know my size and can order them. USA made danner are crazy money. i would love an honest review.

Danner are no longer made in the USA. They sold out to the cheap labor of China. But there are some still USA made pair. Around. I am guessing thats what you found? Or are these the china made?

these are USA boots. easy to find them..just look for the expensive ones :D

I've had a pair for a couple weeks now. Haven't done much hiking in them yet, but so far they feel very comfortable and supportive. I think they are gonna be a really good boot and look like they should last for quite a while

I used too love the Danner Quarry work boot when it was a USA boot, since they've moved manufacturing of these across the water I hate them with a violent loathing. Uncomfortable, heavy feeling, stink like no other. Miss the good ones.

I feel the same about the Quarry boot, I won't buy a Danner boot unless it has a American flag on the side of it. They still make a few of them over here.

I almost picked up a pair a couple of weeks ago but it was online and since I didnt get to try them on or see them in person I went with the Lowa Renegade instead...I had heard too many bad things about Danners (even USA made ones) that I passed and went with Lowa instead.

me too!! i am digging my Renegades. i wonder how long they will last, but they are comfy for sure. i think the Danner Crater Rims felt really similar to the Renegades...wish i had them side by side. when i ever get back to Denver, i will give them a look again. they were not cheap for sure...i think the Renegades were cheaper.

I always liked my prognhorns for Chukar hunting. I could get 2 seasons out of them. Chukar habitat is about as rugged as it gets, but it's dry so waterproof isn't a big issue. Also your not carrying a loaded pack, so I wonder how the Danners would really do with a pack on. They always seemed a little soft for load carry.

*Dog$hit duty with lug soles doesn't sound fun, but it's better than going barefoot :)
