I'm done with Bergarbage!

Apparently I should have did up to date research! I was very happy with my first one I purchased about 3 yrs ago so I ASSumed I'd get a similar product.

What attracted me most was the Remington 700 footprint. I ordered a sweet Manners stock with mini chassis figuring I'd bolt in whichever barreled action I wanted to use vs having 3 cheaper stocks. Good plan in theory 😆

These were by far the best, cherry picked groups. (4, 5 shot groups with everything except 10, 5 shot groups with the 142s)

I only held onto the target to think about what to do moving forward. Then I came to the realization Bergara was dead to me. I had tossed the other targets in the burn barrel immediately so no one would ever see them!

Have Bergara fix it, then sell it with a clear conscience.

Logical, I just don't have any desire to deal with them or have any faith they would get it right.

Thought about rebarrelling them but they will probably just end up take a spot next to my Ruger M77s in the junk row.

No. We didn't bother doing any of that. We just blew $100 in ammo randomly downrange and then I came on the internet, saw this posting and then spent 5 minutes typing a message about how bad their guns sucked.

Not everyone in the world is an idiot dude. Just most people. lol
Hahaha! Some guy offers good advice, not knowing your level of experience or expertise, and you mount him! I imagine there won’t be a long line of folks offering suggestions after that. I understand you’re frustrated but you can be a little nicer to folks offering to help you.

Man…I must’ve gotten mine just before they went to hell. I think I bought mine in the fall if ‘21. B14 wilderness hunter in .300WM and it shoots Federal Terminal Ascent 200gr phenomenally well. I better knock on wood asap…

Bought a 22wmr carbon and it was the worst rifle I've ever owned. Promptly sold it. I realize we were talking centerfire here, just had to throw that in. I'm not anxious to try another bergara anytime soon.

Yep my first one I got about that time. Shoots great.

Another honest review. Starts talking about his Bergara Ridge at the 2:00 mark. "Most frustrating 48 hours of my life" 😆

It'd be funny to walk into my local gun dealer with my 2 like new Bergaras and 2 Ruger M77s. Offer to trade 4 rifles for 1 Tikka!

Often lessons in life are expensive.

It’s nice to see a glimpse of the old Jim every now and again.

FWIW just sighted in my buddy’s wife’s basic Bergara 6.5 PRC with a vortex on it. I know, he doesn’t listen. Thing shot a minute, so I suppose this is a lower stakes Fierce situation where you just don’t know what you’ll get. Well, you do know you’ll get slam fires if the action freezes. I’ll see myself out now…

I'll trade you a new tikka for those.

I will not ever buy another Bergara. Their sub moa guaranty is worthless. My Bergara grouped like a shot gun pattern, so I sent it back to Bergara. They recrowned it and sent it back to me with a target .68 group. Again, I shot it with Hornady/Berger and Barnes. No change. Took it to my gun smith and had it checked and had them fire it. Same result. Contacted Bergara and told them no change. Gun smith said it needed to be re-barreled. Bergara said I could send it back, but they would not fire it just check it over and refused to re-barrel it. I asked how many rounds they fired to get it to group and they refused to tell me.

This is EXACTLY my story from the last few months with my 28 Nosler Mountain 2.0 of theirs. It wouldn't group worth a damn with multiple types of ammo. Right out of the box the barrel and chamber had imperfections and they said it was just "inclusions from the barrel making process" etc yet they still recrowned and repolished. Had ton of pitting before that. I kept getting wild drops at 200 and 300 (like 12 " with 150/160/168gr factory and some handloads). Was a piece of trash and they were gaslighting me into thinking it was fine. Never buying a Bergara again.

I sent one of their discontinued Woodsmans back, in 7-08, because it wouldn't shoot to spec. Took over 10 weeks to get it back. They said their smith went through every 7-08 Woodsman in their inventory, and none of them would shoot! They finally tweeked one of the better examples and sent it back with a .7 target. I also coerced them into putting a decent piece of wood on it for my troubles. Don't ask what they did. The service sheet looked like it was filled out by a doctor's kid with a crayon. I shot 2 3-shot groups to confirm, and stashed it away. One day, I'll try to sell it (with full disclosure).

When my gunsmith looked at me last week with a sad face and muttered "Well.... all I can say is it's going to be really hard to sell this one and maintain your integrity" I knew it was game over. He's been a gunsmith for over 30 yrs and said he's never had one quite like this. That's all she wrote.

Yeah, I had read all the hype and glowing reports for a few years before my purchase. Just my luck...
I think they got so popular so fast, that they sacrificed QC in order to blow more product out the door.
